Quote from: elwoodblues on January 23, 2026, 10:03:18 AMGood morning Rick, Larry, Curt, ACLTom, Terry, Karl, Jerry and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Current temperature is -16c (3f) and sunny.  The white stuff is supposed to hit Sunday.  No modeling last night as I got a call from my buddy who is in a band who was playing at a pub near by so I ended up drinking beer and listening to great music.  No work today so I should get some time at the work bench.

Have a great day everyone.

A perfect way to end the day!!!!!  :) :D ;D

Afternoon all! All is peachy cold. Another provisional trip and just waiting in the Ohio Valley.
Looks like 8-12 of the snowman stuff. The fear is the sleet and the brutal cold blowing in from Karl's outpost.

Great video Karl BTW!

Good evening folks,

I wasn't up to much today, so I am late to check in.

Rick, thanks for opening this morning. Nice hike for you and Star.  I love it that you two can hike together.

Curt, your morning walks are an inspiration for me to hit the bike.  Nice job weathering the planks.

Larry, hope you stay nice and warm up there.  Brrr...

TomACL, I hope the train shed was fun as well as productive.  Congrats on the Koontz completion.

Dave, the farmer's bridge looks great.

Karl, what a photo!  Stay warm up there. The trestle bents looks great!

Jim, nice 3D prints.

Terry, howdy!

Jerry, our weather forecast keeps shifting like yours.  In any case, it's cold.

Ron, the music and beer sound fantastic.

Dave, howdy.

Philip, that weather sounds brutal.

Looks like most of us are in for some real winter weather.  Wishing safe travels if you are out and about.

Today was a non-day, except that I am still here.  I kept the recliner from hitting the ceiling.  I just didn't feel like going upstairs.  I finished the Sheriff's office steps to completion in my head, so I know what to do tomorrow.

Have fun,
mike

dave
I did, pardon my failure to acknowledge my appreciation.

I'm finding that those Campbell kits are full of various sizes and variations of sticks that lead to some interesting confusion in which is which.  :o Most were originally packed in bundles wrapped in no longer elastic rubber bands but not labeled or described in the directions. Luckily my Constructors License has wide latitude. No nit pickin' sommamabeeches checking my work.

I did find one bundle a prior owner had labeled as being 1/16" x 2/16" :o (better if you do it right the first time)

I bought my first set of cheap digital calipers to measure batches of stripwood from a kit where all the rubber bands had failed.  :D

Glad you found my notes useful, they were a late post so I wasn't sure you caught them.

Now why didn't I think of that?? LOL

Good Morning All,

Today for breakfast is coffee, cereal, bagels, frozen waffles, yogurt, OJ, and soda.

Started out the day with a walk at 59F and light fog. I think it's supposed to get to 80F today. Monday and Tuesday are supposed to be in the 30's. :'(  I accomplished nothing yesterday except chores and Costco although we only spent about half of what we normally do.

I did recieve the sanding wand from Micromark that I ordered and ordered the Scott Bulldog truck kit from SW. I figure to use it in the diorama of the next kit.

Nothing really on tap for today.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good Morning,

It's currently -11 with a high of only 9!!!! Any slight bit of wind and we could see -14 or worse. Our Governor has issued a "state of emergency" for the entire state and encourages for people to work remotely from home on Monday...yikes. Not much happening today except keeping warm, maybe cleaning the driveway, with lots of warmups and some bench time.

Curt thanks for the coffee and breakfast. and enjoy your day.

What's the rest of you doing.

Have a great day!! Be well, keep warm and watch the temps & time IF you have to be outside.

Good Morning;

Curt thanks for breakfast, I am on my second cup of coffee. These are the days I am glad to be living in Central Florida. 55F outside now going to 77, I don't think much of the country is going to see anything like that this weekend outside of CA and Florida. I hope everyone stays warm.

We bought a new stand for the TV and it arrived yesterday so that is today's project to assemble and put in place. Hoping for a little bench time as well. Well off for third cup of coffee and getting the day going. Best of luck to all in path of the storm. Here is a photo of the train you can catch to get out of the snow!

Good morning everyone.

Currently 33 in Birmingham, cloudy and 53 later.
Rain will start late in the afternoon.

Curt, thanks for the coffee and breakfast.
Have fun building the truck.

Larry, stay safe.

Rich, looks like you're feeling better and hope that trend continues.

Mike, some days are like that.

Philip, stay safe and indoors.

Ron, sounds like a great evening.

Jerry, hope you stocked up on bread, milk and toilet paper.

Karl, how's the bridge coming along?

ACLTom, Koontz build looks amazing.

I hope everyone in the path of the storm stays safe.
I hope all of you have backup generators because it sounds like many will lose power.

Went to Oak Mountain SP yesterday.
Star and I did a 7.27 mile hike with 1,086' of EG.
Nothing planned for today.

Here's a picture from yesterdays hike.
I was surprised that some trees still had leaves.

Thank you everyone that watched my video, hit the like button and left a comment.

Morning all,

Thanks for the breakfast and cold OJ Curt. Keep those kits coming.

Jim, good luck with the new TV stand. Enjoy our weather today. Next week it will be in the 30s and low 40s all week.

Larry, your weather is perfect for bench time.

Rick, the video was very interesting.

I finally finished the Koontz build and started the '25 Winter Challenge.

Have a safe and warm day everyone.

Good morning Curt, Larry, Jim, Rick, ACLTom and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Curt, the SW truck should be a fun build.

Larry, sound like the best thing to do is stay indoors.  Have fun at the bench if you make it there.

Jim, hope the stand assembly goes well.

Rick, really enjoyed the video, gave it a 2 thumbs up.

ACLTom, looking forward to your 25' Winter Challenge.

Current weather here is -26c (-15f) but at least the sun is shining.  The goal today is to stay inside.  I spent some time at the bench yesterday preparing the wood for the deck.  It's been cut to size, distressed and stained.  Update later.  Not sure what today's plan is, either start decaling the boxcars and/or start planking the deck.

Have a great day everyone.

Morning everyone

Curt thanks for the coffee & breakfast.

Morning Jim good to see you here visiting this am.
Why is it winter pictures look so nice but in real life there so cold?

Rick that looks like a Fall day. I'll watch the video today I got busy yesterday.

ACLTom be looking for the start of your winter project.

Ron it's always good to have choices!!  I's go with finishing the boxcars.

Weather in South Jersey is sunny/16.
Last night we were at 0.
My room is a little on the chilly side this morning but I hope with the small heater I can get to the bench in an hour or so.

Everyone have a wonderful day!!  :)
