Good Morning Folks;

I posted this on the other daily topic but the photo of the day is worth sharing again given the weather. Somebody left the door open and the cold air is moving into Florida. I guess we have a couple of days of this ahead of us.

Today I will definitely being staying inside, good time to clean the work bench then make it dirty again. Today's picture is a load of wood cuttings that filled railcars during the orange grove clean ups of one of our past freezes. Frankly I don't think there are enough orange trees in Florida today that you will see these pictures ever again.

Hope everyone enjoys the day.

Afternoon everyone

Rick thanks for the coffee cake.
I'll put on a fresh pot of coffee.

Larry good luck with the couch.

Karl have fun at the OPS.

Tom have a nice day with Pam.  Yes killing the weeds is a good thing.

Morning Dave.

Mike looking for the update.

TomO sounds like you guys are wired!!  ;D

Jim always good to start with a clean workbench.
That sure is a lot of kindling.

Weather in South Jersey sunny/20.  And that's it for the day.
Turn signals is something new in cars??  :o  Someone should tell the seniors here about them.  ???
My room is at 48 so there is no sense in trying to warm it with a space heater that will eat more electric than I want to spend.
I need to make a jig so maybe I'll work instead the homestead today!!

Everyone have a wonderful day!!  :)

Good evening everyone,

Seeing as it is cold outside (at least for most of us) there is some 18yr old Glenfiddich scotch as well as a bottle of Rare Eagle, help yourself.

Had a great day at the SLD (NMRA) meet where there was a couple of great clinics in the morning session and some progress on the challenge build, got the 4 walls blued together as well as started on the roof.  After the session I stopped at my LHS and picked up some supplies.

Have a great evening everyone.

Ron,

I'll surely have one too!
Make mine a Eagle Rare neat!! I can use something strong about now.
I've been in a personal battle the last two weeks. Not a health battle,
an Estate settlement. It's taken a toll on my mind. Best way to avoid it
is not to die.  ;D

Good morning everyone.

24 currently in Tucumcari, NM, sunny and 64 later.

I see Curt is here and hope he's getting breakfast going.

A brief post from me today.
Didn't do a hike yesterday because it was too cold and windy.
Decided to get some miles in instead.
Definitely warmer here in NM.
Will try to do a hike today.

Have a great day everyone.

PRR Modeler

Good Morning All,

Today for breakfast is coffee, hot chocolate, cereal, sugar donuts, bagels, yogurt, OJ, and soda.

Starting out today at 27F with a feel like of 14F.🥶🥶🥶 The high today will be 45F. Tomorrow will be a repeat, but there is a full moon out. MOH says there is snow on the ground about an hour west of me.

Yesterday I spent an hour sorting wood strips from just 1 bag :( I started coloring the end bracing of the barn walls and feel comfortable with the next steps.

I was going to do a walk later but that probably won't happen until Tuesday. They say discretion is the better part of valor. ;)

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good Morning,

Rick glad to hear you're in warmer climates. Hope you and Star have a good and safe hike.

Curt thanks for the coffee and breakfast. Right about now I'd happily take 27 with a high of 45. enjoy the time with your kit.

Rich I feel your pain. We spent 3 years getting Ellie's late Sister's Estate settled; it was a case of "hurry up and wait" which drove us nuts.

What's going on in your world.

It's a whole 7 with a high of 17. The good news it's going to be up in the 20's for most of the week; I'll take it. Managed to get all the straps on Daughters couch from back to front installed yesterday, Ordered 3 more rolls which will do the length straps with a weave over and under the other ones. Next Saturday should finish it up then it's a few 1:1 things to do here. Did manage about an hour bench time yesterday and more today.

Have a great day!! Be well and keep warm.

Rick, have a great hike with Star.

Larry, sounds like you have mage great progress on the couch.

Rich, estate settlements are no fun, hope it gets completed soon.

Current weather here is -17c (1f) with bright blue skies.  Today's plan is to do a grocery run and dinner with my mom this evening.  Plan to get some bench time in this afternoon.

-3 up from -8 here in Michigan.  Sunny totally clear sky makes it look nice outside, little if any wind and it might actually feel ok, as well.

OPS went well yesterday.  I used the C-415 I bragged up on this outlet and it performed quite well and was favorably commented on by the crew.  I think a bit more keep-alive function could help in some places but it managed to do quite well.  Only real issue was one of the KDs lost a knuckle spring but I was able to work with it.  It took me a whole capsule of the damned things before I could keep track of one long enough to replace it. :o Damn they disappear quick.  :P

Tucumcari, Rick, watch out for Ringo and the Outlaws prowling the streets...what a name for a western location.  I think I passed thru there when the Doll and I drove out little Nissan Cube out to AZ to see her son and grands.  What a box of tin.  The CVT (transmission) puked on us in Tennesee  in the mountains on the way home, what a last day of a trip that was.  We had taken the low route across AZ and NM through TX, Ark, and Tenn to avoid a early spring snow storm that had closed down the upper route that paralleled US-66 in places.  What an adventure...drove thru Tuscon and headed East in a nasty snow!  All the week we were out there it was in the 80s back here in Michigan.  We got in time for one day of it before winter returned.

Back to now, easing into today.  See what comes along.

Be well all, enjoy the day.

Good morning folks,

Rick, thanks for opening.  Glad you are in warmer places.

Curt, thanks for the coffee and breakfast. Good luck at the bench.

Larry, congrats on the couch work.  It's going to be like new.

Ron, sounds like a great day.

Karl, glad the ops session was fun.

What's up with the rest of the crew?

It's another bright morning at 14°F, but no worries, it is warming to 38°F. We are headed to brunch, then The Da Vinci Code at Springer Opera House in Columbus. The kids are driving, so I'll just sit back and relax.

I finished the exterior of the sheriff's office yesterday.  I'll work on the interior tomorrow.  I haven't decided what's next: rolling stock, a post office, or layout work. I've been thinking about pulling out a porter to get it ready to run to the local mines.

Have fun,
mike
My current builds are a Post Office. and miscellaneous rolling stock

Weather in South Jersey is sunny/13.  Later on 23.

TomO/Tloc

Good morning from a slowly warming So. Central Wisconsin. +15f degrees now though it feels like +2. Heading to maybe 30 this afternoon. The sun is bright.

I ended up missing yesterday afternoon's OPS Session as I was not feeling good. The chills, sneezing, cough plus some other issues. I decided not to take the 2 hour ride and subject my fellow riders and then the operators at the session.

Still not feeling the best today but much better than yesterday. We are doing nothing outside the house I was told so I may go down to the bench. If I sneeze and cough there it's fine! The chills are gone and that was the most worrisome of the ailments yesterday to me.

Friend told me in a text this morning he has 123 pairs of 6" feeders cut and the 1/8" L is stripped for Tuesday. He wanted to give the feeder guys a head start for when they come Tuesday morning. He was pretty anmazed how quick the resistance soldering works on the track. He said he tested my portion from Friday all all was good.

Enjoy the day

No question, if I were starting over again, I'd pay someone to do my trackwork!  I still remember the chapter in Dave Frary's "Pennsy Middle Division" book where he Tom Sawyers Bob Hayden to come and do the track.  I still have a lot of switch machines and turnout tuning to do, in case anyone's looking for a job  :o

I actually enjoy doing the trackwork...hand laid ties, rail snd turnouts...but for me, it's just another model build. Track is a model too

When it gets up to 85 degrees in your neck of the woods, give me a call, Dave
