When we visited Athens, I paid extra for the 'penthouse' room, to get this view:

And the same shot at night:

That room was worth the surcharge!

More pick-up/put-away today, and then I'll decide what to start next.  Lots of choices, of course, including farm scenery and a boxcar kit.

Good morning Curt, ACLTom, Larry, Mike, Rick, Karl. Philip, Dave and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Curt, have fun with the rafter tails.

Tom, good luck with the bowling practice.

Larry, hope the 1:1 project goes well and you make it to the bench.

Mike, have fun working on the layout scenery.

Rick, that is a stunning photo.

Karl, it's still a stunning shot, glad you had fun at the Op's session.

Philip, have a great day.

Dave, have fun cleaning up.

Current temperature is -15c (5f) with crystal blue skies.  Yesterday the temperature was above freezing but I think that was just a teaser.  No modeling yesterday as there was a medical incident yesterday at the SLD meeting yesterday where the ambulance was called and the meeting was called after that.  Fortunately, one of the members is a retired doctor and he was on the phone with 911 till the ambulance arrived giving updates.  From the signs it looked like it might have been a (mild?) heart attack.  The good news was that he was conscience when the ambulance arrived.  Let's just say that after that incident I did not feel like doing any modeling.  We shall see how today goes.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning Curt, Tom, Larry, Mike, Rick, Karl. Philip, Dave, Ron and those who look in later.  A thick overcast has been dusting snow on the Merrimack Valley all morning, but none has stuck on my driveway.  I'm not feeling it for burning brush, but that may change if the kids bring enthusiasm home.  So computer work, including posting prototype and model photos of my Rowley, MA HO NMRA standard modules.

Jerry there's actually truth in your statement. We bought couches with enough floor clearance for the skunks. They sleep under the couches.

Good Morning All,

Today for breakfast is coffee, cereal, muffins, bagels, yogurt, OJ, and soda.

Currently 59F and heading to 80F later. Last night's sleep was a mixed bag. I did get some solid sleep but the nerves in my feet were bothering me also.

Yesterday I had mixed results at the workbench. I was looking at pictures of the office roof and for some reason the cardboard sub roof didn't extend far enough for rafter tails on the rear of the office. I removed the existing roof and cut a new roof card that was longer in the rear out of a raisin bran box.

We also found out that the skunk yesterday was surrendered (not vacationing) to the rescue due to very valid acute family health care issues.

Today after chores I plan on re-shingling the office roof and redoing the flashing.

Tom good luck tomorrow with the leg skin surgery.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Morning all,

Thanks for breakfast Curt and the well wishes for tomorrow. These skin cancer removal are getting all to routine for me. However, the four days after surgery when I have to keep my leg elevated to reduce swelling is a pain in the A** as well as the leg.

We did go practice bowling yesterday. I bowled over my average as did Pam.

I got a little done on the Horwood build and will try to post an update later.

My plan is to edge and cut the grass today as the next two weeks will be a no go due to the leg.

Have a safe and healthy day everyone.

Good morning everyone.

43 right now in Flagstaff, windy, cloudy and 66 later.

Curt, thanks for the coffee and breakfast.
Hope sleep is much better tonight and a new home is found for the new skunk.

ACLTom, all the best for tomorrows procedure.

Jerry, hope there was a lot of staining.

James, it's $29 to visit meteor crater. I passed.

Ron, hope the SLD member is OK.

Dave, it's all greek to me.

Karl, beautiful photo.

How's everyone else.

I wanted to go to the north western corner of New Mexico to visit the Bisti Wilderness area and also go see the Alien Throne rock formation.
It's a bit over 300 miles from where I was at the Petrified Forest.
I didn't want to get too far from the urologist just in case he calls and says he's ready.
So I backtracked towards Flagstaff.
I'll do a hike outside of town later today.

This is the view at the end of the trail in Boynton Canyon at Sedona.

Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning,

Curt thanks for the coffee and muffin. Now that's what I call dedication...buying new couches for the critters. Hope the bench time goes well.

Tom best of luck with the procedure tomorrow; sounds like an inconvenience more than anything else.

Rick staying close by was probably a wise move. Enjoy your hike and thanks for another beautiful photo.

What's your plans for the day.

It's a sunny 11 with a high of 28; tomorrow it's going to start warming back up. Grocery shopping shortly then maybe, just maybe some bench time as well as an update. That's about it here.

Have a great day!! Be well and stay warm.

8) A slight bit warmer and sunny today.

Taking the Doll to eye doc today, work up for cataract extraction..Paperwork sent home with her shows several options I didn't have last year, each extra $$ I'm sure, maybe $$$ or even $$$$... :o we'll see.  Different provider than I use.  Someone has found a new way to extract more $$, I guess.  She has two dental trips later in the week, too.  checking her eye teeth?  ::)

SPARTY played very well yesterday. Defeating da HOOSIERS at their barn, second game in Indian we've won this week.    Been quite awhile for both.  Both difficult places with loud and sctive rooting sections.

I also watched some IndyCar racing and end of the NASCAR.  After dinner we watched a movie.  Early in the day I opened up an Atlas U-30-B and am prepping for a keep alive.  After reading a side note in MRH online mag I saw mention of a new variety, to me at least, of portable battery/rechargeable mini solder irons, Amazon is bringing me one today to try out.  Will report back.  Been using a Weller solder station, the mint green ubiquitous unit.  Still will for bigger stuff.  It does well on trackwork, etc.  Circuit board are seemingly much smaller these days....8)

Little else to add.  Be well all.

Mike, hope you get to work on your layout today.

Philip, have a great day,

Dave, I heard the forum burp, now I know why.  ;D

Karl, Interested in seeing your report on the new soldering pen.

Current temperature is -17c  (1f) and blue skies (better than the -24c (-11f) that I woke up to.)  Managed some time at the bench yesterday as I started painting the detail parts and built the free standing wall for the rigging shed.  I also started watching the latest season of Drive to Survive (watch the first 3 episodes) preparing myself for the 2026 F1 season starting this weekend in Australia.

Have a great day everyone.
