Rick

Good morning everyone.

A brief but hopeful good news post from me today.
Got a message from the urologist yesterday to come in and get an x-ray to see if I qualify for a procedure he could do now to break up the stone.
Fingers crossed.
If not I'll have to wait longer for him to be able to use another procedure.
Leaving camp shortly to beat the nightmare traffic in Kingman due to construction.

Hope all are well and have a great day.

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening Rick and good luck today with the doctor.

Today for breakfast is coffee, cereal, bagels, yogurt, OJ, and soda.

It's currently 63F with heavy fog heading to a high of 83F. I met up with Terry yesterday for coffee and conversation and had a great time.

In the train room was a mixed bag again. I started messing around with the other shingled roof and ended up messing it up meaning I had to redo it also. I also started laying the shake shingles on the barn. I normally like using double sided scotch tape for roofing but for some reason the paper wouldn't stick to it so I have to use white glue.

Today I have a bunch of stuff to do around the house so I may not make it to the workbench.

Tom I hope you are doing well after the surgery.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good Morning,

Rick hope the Doc can fix you up today snd hopefully be done with it.

Curt we all have times when modeling doesn't want to go our way; at least you know how to fix the problem.

Tom hope you're doing well this morning.

How's the rest of you doing.

It's a foggy 31 with a high of 49 today; Saturday they're called for high 60's so that should do some damage to the snow. Making a trip to Wegmans shortly to return bottles, pick up an RX, and some grocerying. Maybe some bench time later.

Have a great day!! Be well and heal up.

8) Sun, mid 20s going to ~50o Hard heavy frost until the sun gets around this morning.

I did get the soldering iron working, it's ok.  Heats quickly and solders fine.  A couple pics when I change input devices,  :-[

I put a keep alive in the Atlas U-30-B and tested it.  Gets 3 and a smidge seconds of run if you lift it off the track.  Good for my needs, used a TCS KA-2 the small cube shape unit, it fit well in a space between mother board and speaker atop the weight.

Back to layout today after the daily 'stuff' gets done.  The Doll has a trip to town but I'm not needed for it today.  I think... ::)

Good luck, Rick, with the doc.  My GI doc's office called me and set up an appointment, the end of May is earliest.. :P I love it when they have English as a second or third language folks to talk to the hearing impaired...closest to my name she could say was to call me, "Mr. Karl..." throughout the conversation and answered everything I said, "Perfect..." the latest buzz word in face to face conversation with 'providers', fits right in with.."NO Problem.." response to Thank you, or the latest, "Of course.." I get from my daughter.  YOU'RE WELCOME has be eradicated... >:(

So, if it's perfect, and no problem, of course I have nothing to add this morning....You're Welcome!  ;D

Good luck, Rick!    On a similar note, my wife got a last minute appointment with a back specialist in Boston.  That guy usually has a 3 month waiting list.

Today's photo is railroad related, it's from the Ffestiniog 2' gauge railway in Wales:

I made more progress on both projects, adding more Sculptamold around the farm.  On the boxcar kit, though, I glued the end panels the wrong way.  So I filled the holes for the brake platform and will drill and add those on the other end piece.  bleep!

Good morning Rick, Curt, Larry, Mike, Philip, Karl, Dave, Jim and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Curt, sounds like the shingles are fighting back hard.

Rick, that's great news, hope you qualify for the procedure.

Current temperature is 0c (32f), sunny and getting warmer.  I did make it to the bench last night and manage to make a construction jig for the rigging shed build before the Mrs asked for computer help that took longer than I hoped (did I say I'm not a Windows lover).  I also managed to watch another episode of Drive to Survive.

Have a great day everybody.

Unboxing and Important Information

The unit is like a nice fat cigar, holds well in your hand. It heats up to a temperature that you set then you can do some fine soldering. This was a Loksound V and wiring a TCS KA-2 in place. Tinned the pads, the wires then quickly attached to the pads

Morning everyone

Curt thanks for the coffee & breakfast.
Glad you got the shingles to stick.

Rick good news I hope he can do it sooner than later.
It gives a new meaning to be "stoned"!  :) ;D

Larry hope you have time for the bench.

Morning Mike & Philip hope your day is good one.

Karl thanks for the report on the new Iron.

Nice picture Dave.

Welcome back Jim.

Ron I guess your ready for the F1 race this weekend.

Weather in South Jersey is cloudy/45.  Later the same.
Managed to get a couple of hours at the bench yesterday.
I have been working on 3 things and getting nowhere.  Today I will concentrate on one!

Everyone have a great day!!  :)

Karl, thanks for the report.  Also thanks for passing on that consumer warning.  (My favorite warning was on a fingernail brush, "Always use eye protection", and I wondered if I should keep goggles in the shower.)  It looks, though, like that guy in the product photo is going to snort the hazardous smoke.

Reminds me of a posed photo for a conventional soldering iron with the cute little oriental girl's fingers wrapped right around the chrome base of the tip simulating soldering.
