Good Morning All,

Today for breakfast is coffee, cereal, bagels, yogurt, breakfast pastry, OJ and soda.

Started out the day with a walk at 70 something and heading to 90F later. It sounds like rain next week should be frequent. The pool part came in late yesterday so SIL will be by this morning. Also I started on the complex detail parts getting 3 or 4 painted. I'll weather them all together. Probably at least 4-5 days of painting still to do.

I have a bunch of pool and yard work coming up in the near term so that will slow the modeling down further.

Not much else happening this way.

Good morning everyone.

Sun and clouds today in Sioux Falls with a high of 81.

Curt, thanks for the coffee, breakfast and pictures.
Hope the pool repair goes well.

Philip, I'm sure it's another busy day for you again.

TomO, sorry you're not feeling well and I hope the doctors come up with a fix soon.

Dave, not sure if I have more rock pictures but I'll look.

Larry, have fun the the SW details and good news on finishing the dirt pile.

Karl, those are both very nice photos.

How is everyone else?

I thought I would get my mail yesterday, but the PO once again proved how inept they are.
According to the app, my mail arrived at the Sioux Falls distribution center on Thursday and was scheduled for pick on Friday.
Kept checking the app all day and no progress.
At around 9:30 PM I saw they updated the status and my mail was now in Iowa.
Why?
App is now dying my mail will be available for pick up today.
Any bets on that really happening?

Going back to Falls Park where there's a farmers Market starting at 8.

Dave, the only other picture with rocks.

We seem to missed a line of storms that went thru the area in the whee hours, here.  Could use a bit.  Temps already in the 50s going to get close to 80 today!  :o with the possibility of a touch more rain.

I took the Doll out to a thrift store in downtown Lansing yesterday, wandered back to my son's repair shop in early afternoon and visited there. He's in the process of adding a third overhead door, front end alignment machine and another heavy lift. Business is going well for him.  We made plans to take him out for his 50th next Friday, also the Doll's b'day.  His building has been a repair shop since the 1880s when it was a buggy and rigging shop.

Once home I crashed as did the Doll and we didn't make it out to eat and I had planned.

Haven't been much of an NBA fan since back years ago in the Bad Boys days of the Pistons, but for some reason started watching as they were wrapping up the team from FL.  The                  rules confuse me at times but have enjoyed the series with Cleveland.  They stepped back from the edge last evening and move back to Detroit Sunday.  We've not seen the jackassery that used to turn me off from the millionaire punks hi-jinks or low-jinks...I still don't understand the long distances they are allowed to carry "the Rock" and not be called for traveling.  Rock, really?

Took a modeling break yesterday.  Will see where today leads, it should be warmer so I'll see what the day brings.  I'd like a little of the rain from the area to activate my lawn fertilizer. The warmer next couple days will be nice.

Little else here, what's in YOUR plan book?  :D

I have the same ? as Curt, Star looks a bit grey around the edges...

Morning all,

Thanks for breakfast Curt. Hope the pool impeller repair goes well.

I'm spending the day with Pam. She gets her hair done in Mt. Dora and I wait in the car, nap and read. Later we'll go to her favorite antique mall. I'll look around and see what I can find. She of course, will be looking at jewelery.

Late lunch/early dinner after all that.

All great photos this morning.

Have a safe, happy and hobby filled day everyone.

Good morning folks,

Curt, thanks for opening, coffee, and breakfast.  Good luck with the pool and detail parts.

Rick, good luck with the mail. That's almost unbelievable, but sadly, it is not.  Hi Star!

Karl, glad you are getting some warmer weather.  Congrats to your son on his growing business.

TomACL, wishing you a fun day with your wife.  Napping in the car sounds familiar.

How is the rest of the crew?

It's a bright morning, headed to 85°F.  I'll be smoking ribs for the next seven hours, so not sure I'll make it upstairs.

Have fun,
mike

Rick, thanks for the photos.  That's quite the outcrop. I still can't figure out the kind of rocks from your photos.  Oh well, maybe I'll just have to visit SD (never been to either Dakota) in person  ;D

Bright and sunny, no clouds, 57 heading to 75.  Scotch Club scheduled for this afternoon, theme is "BYOB".  So it'll be interesting to see what people dig out of their closets.  This looks to be a spectacular weekend, weatherwise.  But Tuesday (the day I'm getting my first cataract surgery), they're saying 91!  UGH!  Send that heat back south, where it belongs!!

Over at mrhmag.com, the May MRH has part 2 of a great series on debugging wiring and DCC shorts.  I think this has been one of the best articles in the model railroad press in decades.  I'm sure I'll have lots of wiring problems if I ever get around to cleaning tracks and trying to run trains.

Good Morning,

Curt thanks for the coffee and breakfast. Outside work can deter your modeling efforts but enjoy making up the details.

Rick the USPS is struggling and has been for years. I'm expecting down the road, maybe not in my lifetime, that it'll go bust; especially with so many doing everything online now. Star looks so small next to that sculpture but don't tell her I said that.

Karl I'm right there with you on the NBA. haven't watched or followed in years; only college on occasion. Being out and about can be tiring; must be the reminder of the inevitable.

Tom enjoy your day with Pam. I for one vote for nap time in the car and hope you have a great meal.

Mike that must be one big set of ribs to smoke for 7 hours; a pipe only lasts about maybe thirty minutes.

Dave good luck with your surgery next Tuesday and if it's any consolation we're getting about the same weather here in N.Y.

What's on your todo list.

It's a sunny 54 with a high of 78; time to put in the portable A/C unit this morning. Made it to the bench for about an hour or so yesterday. As much as I would like to be outside today the weather noobs are calling for rain later. Maybe some bench time?

Have a great and safe day!! Be well.

Good morning everyone,

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Curt, loving the Pennsy photos.

Rick, Star looks to be in far better shape than the moose.  ;D  Great looking sculpture, hope your mail arrives soon.

Karl, basketball is a sport I never got into for me it's hockey, football and F1.

Tom, have fun antique shopping.

Dave, I have spent a lifetime (well it seams that way) hunting down DCC shorts and trouble shooting and I have learned things from the mrhmag, I would also say it's recommended reading.  Enjoy the scotch club.

Larry, hopefully the rain holds up for you and you get some outdoor time.

Current temperature is 16c (61f) with the sun shining.  Plans today, I don't know yet.  One thing I do know that I'm going to enjoy the sunshine and take Gracie for a nice long walk.  After that I might play with an Ardunio and figure out how use planetary stepper motors to control turnouts.  I'm waiting for a replacement board for the DCC-EX system that I think is faulty.

Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning;

Florida today, hot and no rain in the Central part at least. I love popping in and seeing all the photos and chatter,, good stuff. Today we have my daughter and son-in-law popping in for lunch, that will be fun. They are both programmers and are worried what AI will do to their positions. Frankly I think they need to do more than worry. I played around this morning with AI programing an Arduino by itself using only directions of what I want to happen when the Arduino operates. Not working yet but fact it is doing way better than I could is something to think about.

My current 'machine project' is making a pickle factory by 3D resin printing a 'shell' of the structure then adding the details over the 'bones' to create the final building. The 3D printer I have is a large plate resin printer and it was able to make this 'shell', barely. It measures in real scale 7 x 5 and 6.5 inches high.

IMG_2779.jpeg

Fresh off the machine this morning. Print time 12 hours. It used about $8.00 of resin to produce it. Since I make sure I have as much figured out as I can before printing these days I usually get the print right the first time but a year ago I might to have made this three or four times before I got it right. Something to think about in 3D printing of large objects.

Well the kids will be here soon so have a great day.

We're back from visiting a spectacularly well restored Second Empire Victorian house:  https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/37-Summer-St-Dover-NH-03820/92901918_zpid/  I tend to be picky about restorations, and there was nothing done there that looked "wrong" to me.  The house is in great shape structurally, no significant signs of foundation problems, no water smell in the basement.  The first 2 floors had a lot of original fancy woodwork and floors.  The kitchen wasn't bad, but wife and I agreed it wasn't particularly inspiring.  One nice original feature was a dishwarmer radiator in the butler's pantry.  The 3rd floor had a lot more restoration, there was a book of restoration photos showing some of the work done there.  The roof was slate-like architectural shingles, not cheap, but a lot less expensive than an actual new slate roof.  Talking to the realtor and a couple other people touring the house, we discussed "OK, so where was the carriage house?" on the lot.  The small house next door looked like an old Cape Cod house on a newer foundation, so maybe it was moved there when the carriage house burned down and an earlier owner sold off that part of the lot.

All-in-all, it was a joy to see an 150 year old high-end house so well restored (and one that was never converted to apartments!)
