Some nice photos today, as usual.  This morning is nice, cool, sunny and pleasant. The Weather people say "It'll change".  They're predicting a rather intense storm blowing in this afternoon, with a chance of up to a foot of SNOW in the mountains!  That might wash out Scotch Club tomorrow  :'(

No real work on the layout, but I'm making some significant progress cleaning up storage areas.

Good afternoon from Wisconsin. It started cool at 8am wake up with 50f degrees. It's slowly trying to get to 80 but it's so beautifully clear out.

Got the ears lowered then stopped at McDonals and ordered for Terry and me and it's not close to the order I placed at the window. We both ate it. When I used to do fast food before I retired in 2014 I always checked the bag before leaving the window. Today this might have been the 5th time at McDonalds without the grandkids since retirement. Nope I didn't check and I know the lady told me what was in the bag but I couldn't understand a word with her accent. That's on me but we both enjoyed. I ended up with a steak, egg and cheese begal and Terry ended up with a bagel with sausage, egg and cheese. I had ordered 2 sausage burritos!

Today is mulch day as it is the coolest day in the past 2 weeks and the coolest in the next 5. We are just filling in areas as overall last year's mulching still looks pretty good. While I prefer my grass be cut before the weekend it's on the border of needing it or not. The grandson now cuts for me and 3 neighbors. I walked all 4 yards this morning along with one of the guys. Cutting will be a Monday! We've had just under 1" of rain the past 3 weeks and you can start to see the stress. But none of us water due to the crazy expense so we will live with browner lawns. No real rain in the 7 day forecast either.

No modeling so far today and the g/s has a soccer game at 5 at the complex down the street. So I doubt I'll see the bench! His team is ranked 5th in the state for U13 age group and play #1 under the lights on the stadium pitch at 8pm tomorrow night. These are tournament games with 2 more Sunday.

Thats it from here

Mid 60s, totally blue sky. Light breeze. Rearranging furniture again.

Trash run later.

All well.

TomO, on soccer:  https://davebarry.substack.com/p/the-world-cup  (I loved the "flop training" photo.)

Today, cleaning the attic, I found a (used) first generation Mac Mini from 2006, repacked in its original box.  That actually might have collectable value, particularly given how popular latest generation Minis are for AI.  I threw out a bunch of old boxes from old devices, etc.  I have to separate the styrofoam from the boxes, the styrofoam isn't recyclable here.

Holy holy, not quite sure how to respond to that!

Good Morning All,

Today for breakfast is coffee, cereal, bagels, yogurt, OJ, and soda.

Starting out in the humid low 70's from yesterday evening's heavy thunderstorms which left us with about 2 inches of rain and a flooded yard. Supposed to happen again today. We're in drought conditions here so the rain is needed.

Yesterday I continued working on detailing the build which should continue today.

Not much else planned today.

Mike I think you asked about belly rubs. I haven't found a skunk yet that likes their belly rubbed.

Good morning Curt and the rest of the crew that drops in later,

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Curt, have fun detailing the kit.

Current weather is a cool 12c (53f) and the sun is shining.  Last night while watching the hockey game i worked on re-flashing the firmware on the Wifi module for the DCC-EX system.  After few hick-ups I was successful in installing the proper firmware and I now have a fully functional DCC system for my scale modules.  Will be leaving shortly to attend the last NMRA meet of the season before the summer break.  This afternoon I see grass cutting and dog walking.  This evening should be bench time.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning everyone.

63 now and 76 later with scattered showers and wind during the day.

Curt, thanks for the coffee, breakfast and pictures.
Interesting the skunks don't like belly rubs.

Ron, congratulations on the software install and have fun at the meet.

TomO, hope your grandson played well and his team won.

Dave, congratulations on the Mac Mini find.

Karl, hope there's something more interesting for you to do today.

Jerry, enjoy your picnic.

Mike, your car is looking very good.

ACLTom, how's the painting going?

James, I didn't know chickens ate eggs.

Larry, are the 1:1's finished?

How's everyone else?

Kind of a lazy day yesterday.
I did go to the gym ion the morning.
I also got the homeowners policy which ended up costing twice as much as I thought it would.  :'(
Went to Barnes and Nobles in the afternoon and browsed without buying.
If the rain holds up maybe Star and I will take a walk in the park.

This is from Thursday's walk.

Greetings from soggy SE NH, where we've had about 1" of much needed rain, and a fair amount of wind to go with it.  The rain is supposed to stop just in time for Scotch Club, but we'll have to dress warmly, since it's quite chilly.  42 as I write this, they are saying 54, but I suspect the 'feels like' temperature will be lower.  At least we can have a fire without worrying about fire hazards.

One of our neighbors is a retired fire captain.  There was a fire truck parked outside his house Thursday night.  Yesterday, I dropped him note, "Was that a service call or a social call?"  He replied, "Social call.  My brother is getting his driver qualification hours on the new fire engine."

Morning Fellers,

Curt thanks for the coffee and breakfast. Nice you're getting the much needed rain just hope an Ark isn't needed. Have fun at the bench.

Ron sounds like a busy day; enjoy.

Rick gorgeous photo; the place you wouldn't mind strolling through on a warm spring day. Sorry the insurance cost so much but certainly needed to protect your investment. Yup the 1:1 has been completed.

Philip I know what you mean about time flying. My Dad used to tell me the older you get the quicker time seems to fly; he was right.

Dave have a good day.

What's your plans today?

It's a partly sunny 54 with a high of 66. Received a text from Daughter yesterday a.m. so ended up going car hunting later in the afternoon for about 4 hours. She found a SUV she really likes and is the right size for her. Now she just needs to find a balance between milage, cost, and her budget. Her current car is an Outlander Sport and replacement parts are outrageously priced since you can ONLY get parts from Mitsubishi and not 3rd partly manufacturers; I suggested staying away from that brand. Maybe some bench time later.

Have a safe and enjoyable day!! Be well.

Good morning. My wife thought it strange this morning when I opened the door to sit out on the south deck. Her weather app says it's 58f degrees and I don't sit out under 60. I had looked at mine WeatherChannel app when I woke and it read 65. So I went to my search and asked what the temperature was now in Verona? 61 was the response and I'm on the deck. My 65 is a definite wrong, it's windy and cool feeling but I can handle it but this breeze sucks. They all agree the high will be 78.

The grandson's game last night was interesting.  Other team they had recently played and they were up 3-0 and lost 3-4. Yesterday other team scored fairly quick, about 5 minutes later the grandson tied it up. At 1/2 time it was 2-3 and a pretty rough game. 2nd 1/2 grandson scored but ruled off side so no goal. A few minutes later we score again and ruled off side and no goal. Grandson gets leveled and referee stands over him and says you threw an elbow and yellow carded him in U13 soccer game fairly rare. I have never seen Brooks respond like he did! Bull in the China shop attitude, 2 passes by him to teammates and they scored. 3-3 30 seconds left and Brooks scores. 4-3 and the referee tells the kids he's adding 2 minutes to the game! In this tournament the sheet definitely said a running time game no add on times. Of course the other team tied it up after what the coach says was almost 5 minutes of added game kept on referees watch. We get the ball and the ref blows whistle game over. Went over to talk to grandson and he's bleeding pretty good. That elbow he was yellowed carded for connected with his nose from the other team, he never threw one. Like I said interesting. He Has 1 game tonight between 7:15 and 7:45 against the #1 U13 team in the state. They have played twice this year and split so far. 2 games tomorrow and that will be the Spring soccer season.

I know I've mentioned that I sold my paper mill I called the Papers of Wisconsin, Inc or POWI in April. Yesterday I started pulling up the track. I built the layout in 2014 on 2x6 modules. It was built here and it stayed with the house when we moved out in 2016 when we rented the house to a family. They left in 2018 and we used both sides of the duplex for our corporate offices. I moved the layout to the house we were in 2/2020. When we moved back in 9/2023 when we sold the 3rd house we had between 2016 and 23. I don't have much in the way of sentimental feelings about my models but ripping that track out was emotionally tough. Hand laid code 70 rail on CVMW tie strips was fun for me but it's just rail now in bundles. Today I am pulling up the rail in the pulp and wood chip yards which will go fairly quick as it's only 2' x 14'. Attached are pictures from March when I was fixing track on the paper mill lead.  All to be gone today

Enjoy your day

Jerry
