Thus beginneth the second quarter of 2026. Certainly hope to accomplish more this quarter than the last one both personally and with modeling.

Quote from: Zephyrus52246 on March 26, 2026, 07:51:48 AMMorning all,

On my 16th birthday, 54 years plus ago, I went and got my driver's license and put in job applications.  Three days later I'm working as a stockboy in a Target-like store.  I've done that, been a pharmacy intern, pharmacist, medical resident, family physician and finally urgent care physician.  Yesterday was the end of the trail for all that.  Finally retired.  Didn't think I'd be working to 70, but at least it's over.  Thank the Maker.

Seventy five degrees later, but rain in the forecast as well.

Only plan for the day is watching the Red Sox opening day.  Go Sox!

Jeff
Congrats oon the milestone Jeff, BUT,
my late fater-in-law was a mannufacturers rep in New England. He thought nothing of wakening in west suburban Boston (Needham) driving to Bath, Maine and be home for dinner.
HEesaid after retirement he was busier than when he was employed. Don't let the same thing happen to you.

Doctor Jeff,
Your photos this morning make me green with envy.
That's no blarney, either.
Back in Boston I had a CPA friend whose first activity on March 17th was to donate a pint of blood. His logic was it was good to start the day with room for celebration in his veins.
Enjoy the day, readers

Yesterday at this time, I had the top down on the Audi enjoying 80-degree weather.
It's snowing outside currently.

Trombones you say?
We're to get to seventy-six today if the prognosticators are correct. And aren't they ALWAYS correct? Something's afoot as the last tiny snow pile on the deck disappeared over night. I may have to get the convertible washed later today.
Let people wonder what you're up to today. Smile at them!

Dave,
Check your messages here on the Forum. I posted a reply there yesterday.

So back to the train room...

A question for Reading Bob:  When did Reading stop using their 4-wheel bobber caboose?  Did they make it into the diesel era?

dave
Darn you Dave!
I tried to retrieve my Cabooses of the Reading book in the basement and discovered or for the first time really saw what a disaster area it is! Thanks for the prod. I'll keep looking for the book.
As an embarrassed member of te Reading Company Technical and Historical I can't give you an off the top of the head date but will get you one if Reading Bob doesn't check the site today.

Quote from: deemery on February 24, 2026, 08:59:16 AMOur plow guy came by in the middle of the night last night (for some reason, he prefers that.  I guess it's no concerns about anyone else on the road while he's plowing.)  We got maybe 8".  South of Boston got hammered.  The location where the Boston Globe's presses are located (Taunton) got something like 28", so they cancelled publication for the first time ever.  Rhode Island is buried, as much as 30".  So one for your grandkids to tell their grandkids about some day...

I'll get back to the farmhouse, it's nearly done.  I also have to head to the store (low on dog food).

Bet the Globe "management" is wishing they were still on Dorchester (Dahchestah) Ave.
How many folks will realize (or care) there's no Globe today?

You don't get much accomplished during the day when you sleep through the alarm's early morning greeting. I'm glad yesterday's bout with office chair assembly is behind me (or under me).
If you keep your guess or prognostication below 35 degrees, you'll probably be correct regarding our weather between now and Monday morning.
Keep on modeling!

I would too IF I had unlimited financial resources.
Even HO gauge is expensive today.

Reading Modular was at Springfield/Amherst over the weekend. They came home yesterday (I was forced to miss The Big Show) and we're now prepping for Timonium this weekend. Guess what! Same weather forecast currently for Timonium as for Springfield.

A nippy 8 degrees in suburban Philly this morning. It took an extra hour to crawl out from between the bedclothes this morning.
For those of you traveling to Amherst/Springfield, enjoy yourselves and try to leave the notorious Springfield Crud behind when you depart.
Waiting to see what the Weather Experts have on tap for us this weekend. Early guesses are that we will return to New England conditions without ever leaving our house.
Stay warm, all.

This morning, 440, and falling. Rain and wind and various precipitation forms guessed at. The area N/S Xway is closed in both directions due to broken power poles :o

Enjoy the time off, Jeff.

Dat's it....KarlS

Karl,
I think I failed your Rohrshock test.   ;)

At 12:56 PM on New Years Day, I'm happy to report from a chilly Reading country that I haven't violated ONE of my New Years Resolutions, yet.
Could that be because I didn't make any?
Quoting one of my favorite move lines, Merry New Year!
