While I continue to work on the track and scenery issues in East Orange, I decided to start on another structure for the town of Chester. I started the O.V. hooker building from SRMW. Over the past couple of weeks, I have made good progress on the building. I am now applying the shingles to the main building. The small buildings adjacent to the main building have been modified slightly. I have made a change to the end of the building so it looks like the original structure. I have also added a rather large smoke stack for no apparent reason other than i like it. Everything will be mounted on the pink foam so it will be a removable module at some point. The Circuitron switch machine in the foreground will be covered by a control tower for Chester. I had to mount the switch machine on the top of the benchwork because there is a helix right below this area. This should be the last building complex for Chester. Adding streets, people, a street light and trees and Chester should be complete.

The new build looks good there!  Winter is coming early to our part of the country, AZ is already looking like the place to be.

John,

Thanks for stopping by. winter has arrived here to. Going to 80 today. Life is good. I work outside in the am and in the train room in the afternoons. Here is another photo of the building. once the shingles are done, then I can move onto integrating the building into the scenery. Still have the tower and ruggles roofing to build for this scene. Looking forward to making trees.

Frank,

The layout and scenery are looking great. Hookers is in the perfect spot. The structure really looks good and I love the road going tup between the two structures and across the tracks.

Looking very good, Frank!

I like the vertical element of the smoke stack behind Hookers, but wonder whether it is a little large for the complex?  Have you thought of trying something smaller but still as high - steel perhaps?

Cheers, Mark.

Good Afternoon Tom,

Good to hear from you. Glad you like the progress. Just got back from home Depot with some more pink foam for the land forms around the building. I like hookers, no pun intended. Can't wait to put in the tower. a little progress every day. Enjoy your weekend.

Good afternoon Mark,

I have had the same thought on the smoke stack, but sometimes it looks big and sometimes it looks good ( or not so good). I do have a smaller stack and will give it a try. what I liked about this stack is that it is rectangular. Different. The other argument ( only kidding) is that I have smaller stacks in the background and a larger stack in the foreground isn't a bad idea. Trust me, I will look all all my options before I'm done. Thanks for your thoughts and for stopping by.

Frank,
Hooker's sure looks at home with all the other South River buildings in the neighborhood!

Thanks Jerry,

Glad you like the structure. If you haven't guessed, I am a real fan of Bob's work. Hopefully he doesn't mind the changes that I make to the structures. I build the first one as the kit instructed and have modified all the rest. Hookers has a slight modification to fit the location. I purchased the new kit for Christmas and look forward to that building as well.

Thanks for stopping by. I'll be posting more photos later in the week. working on the land forms.

Good Morning David,

Thanks for stopping by and for clarifying Chip's post. Hooters / hookers, not much of a difference. Let's drop this now so it does not prolong itself on this thread. glad you enjoy the structure. more pics soon.
