Good Morning All,

Well, I finally have started on the roof!!! :) :) :) Several stop and goes on this one, but now its on the build. This roof has lots of dormers, five to be exact and an eyebrow window. Lots of challenges to look forward to. glad to be this far, because the end is in sight, well maybe. In the right hand side of the photo is  tower that is my next project. Just a few more structures for Chester and that town is fully occupied with lots of structures. Then onto Ironia and the large coal facility. I am using  the sheepscot Lime company structure as the foundation of that complex, but that is another day, well kinda.

Tom,

Sounds and looks like you and Pam had a great trip. you might just want to sit in your train room, drink diet Pepsi and just post the photos of cliff's layout. You will get not argument from me!.
I spent the morning fixing a couple of water line issue. Just have to put the cactus back in the ground, but will do that before sunset. It s getting a little toasty out there. We are expecting 111 today. Remember that is what the thermometer will reach about 4 PM, the it begins to cool down, I was out in the yard about 5:30 this morning moving rock while it was still cool.

I will be in the train room for the rest, or almost, the day. Need to keep working on the station. Tom, the roof was a real pain, but I figured out the issues and I am back on track. I hope to get the roof and dormers  in their rough stage completed by the end of the day or early tomorrow. Then comes the shingles, lots of them, but more about that later. Thanks for stopping by and glad you got cliff to join our band of merry railroaders. Welcome Cliff.

Hi,
nice looking structure.... :)

Chris,

Thank you for stopping by. I was up a little after 5 this morning to dig out a citrus tree stump. In the train room taking a break and then a few more chores and I will be in the train room for the rest of the day.
Progress on the roof structure is getting closer to completion. As you can see in the photo, i need to finish the nose and add the dormers. Hopefully I can finish that today. Hopefully. The next big project is the shingles. Lots of them. i mean a whole bunch. I was taking to another modeler from Tucson yesterday and he asked if I was going to add lighting. The thought has crossed my mind, but only crossed it. The body of the station is totally sealed at this point and there is no way that I am going to open it. No way!!!
More later.

By now, everyone is probably getting bored seeing the station progress, so here is a photo of the partially completed station in its future location in Chester. Three GP7's are moving a 40 car train thru Chester, observing the speed regulations for hauling flammable fuels. Now isn't this better than just seeing the structure?

Good Morning John,

Thank you for stopping by. I agree, the station looks better in place. I'll try to remember to take more picture in its location. I have been making some progress. the roof is done, the dormers only require the front faces. Next up will be the edge boards and the metal front edging, then days and days of shingles. Stay tuned for more. Off to Stretch class this morning the nto see a layout in Tempe. This guy has a 4500 sq. ft. basement railroad layout. This should be interesting.

John,

4500 sq. ft basement with lots of layout. He is still in construction. His interest is primarily Operations. Nis scenery is desert southwest, but has a few interesting areas. Two large wooden trestle bridges, a couple of steel bridges, etc. We can put this on the list to visit next year when you are out here. I'll keep looking for other layouts that you might enjoy. the is a guy in Mesa that has a huge "G" scale layout. word is that he has 3 mil investment into it. I'm sure that we will have plenty of layouts to see. no worries. that's my report for the day.

Frank,

Happy to see the station is back on track! How many photos of the "G" scale layout do you have for us? Inquiring minds and all that.

Tom,

The station is on hold today until I can get to the LHS tomorrow. Need to get some standing ribbed metal roofing for the front edges of the station, Then is days and days of shingles. I have not yet seen the "G" scale layout. When I do, you can be assured that I will post a lot of pictures. I only visited the guy with the 4500 sq. ft. basement layout. Oh to have a room that large!!!!!!!!! He does have a group of guys helping him. I probably couldn't do that because I am too picky! But I can dream. :)

I am a couple of committees for our regional convention here in Scottsdale next September. I am photographing and videoing each layout to construct a couple of video presentations for the conventioneers. More about that at another time. Got to get outside before it gets too hot.

Slowly, progress is being made on the roof. I have been cutting and gluing the metal edge on the roof and dormers; and Low and behold, shingles have been started. You can only work on the shingles for a short periods of time. It's too damn boring! But it looks good.  I'll post another picture after the shingles are all on and the spire is installed.Whoa is me.!!!

You have been home now for a few days you must have got through the honey-do-list and built something on the layout.  Hope all is well - give us an update when you get a chance.
