In order to determine the height of the pilings, I used a metal bar and measured from the river bed to the bottom of the bar. The height was 1 1/2 inch.




I then cut ten 1/8 " dowels to that length. Two of the dowels/pilings were glued to the bottom rear of each happy hut/shack.



I forgot to mention that I stained and glued scale 8 X 8's to the bottom of each shack.

I'll work on the dock ramps and dock next. Cross bracing and horizontal bracing still needed.

Thanks very much. I'm really excited to get moving on this area. I plan on having it finished by the end of October of this year.

Today I worked on the dock for the fishing shacks. After building the dock frame, stringers and planks I noticed some glue squeezed through a few of the planks.

I used an Emory board to remove the glue spots. I used the white side of the board and gently removed the glue. I was so pleased with how the planks looked after the sanding I used the Emory board on the entire dock planks.

Finished the dock with pilings, cross  and horizontal bracing. When the glue dried I touched up any exposed lumber ends with A&I stain.



I also added the dock approach ramps.

It sure does, I'm surprised I never thought of it before. Well, I didn't think of it this time either.

I applied the horizontal and cross bracing to the fishing shacks today.





I'll be adding the roofs next.
