I think the walls are too thin to look correct. Just an idea, can you move the tortoise a little further back to give you more room? I know it would be a pain to do it.

I am sure even if you keep it as it you will make it look terrific.

Curt,

Moving the Tortoise won't help as the tank is still large. You are correct in the walls being to thin.

I'm adding the concrete pad and a gravel ring and let it go at that. Too much time has been spent here but I wanted togive it a try in anyway.

As I mentioned to the three respondents above, I'm going back to my first idea. I will add the Jim Miller concrete and add a small ring of gravel around the pad.

The problem here is space. Even if the space weren't the issue, I'd need space equal to the volume of the tank. The space needed would be dictated by the height of the wall and the volume of liquid being retained in said space.

Anyway, this has gone way beyond my pay scale and interest.

Jim Miller's concrete pad and Tom's gravel ring will be the end product.

Tom,
I believe that what you are planning will look fine.  I looked back a couple pages at an earlier photo.  There is so much to look at with the building and multiple tanks, with this particular tank located near the rear, the missing berm will only be obvious to those of us who follow your thread.  In other words, everyone, lol!

Jerry,

I agree, it will look fine when finished. There is too much to see to worry about the retention barrier.

However, there will come a time when a rivet counter visits and he'll be sure to let me know the retention wall is missing. :o :o

I appreciate the comment.

Leo,

Thank you, much appreciated. The hidden Tortoise was a must. There is a 2X4 support directly under the turnout.

I've been very busy the past few days working on the fence and some scenery updates.

I'll start with some tree updates around the north of the West Yard. I added a few new palm trees. I'd like to mention the Judge did a great job on getting the trees to look "not plastic". I believe I mentioned in the past the palm trees are Woodland Scenics.

I planted one tall palm in front of Sinners Mill.

Two palms look much better or as us southerners say, "That's more betta". ;D

Here are a few more pictures of the addition of palms in certain areas.

While working on and installing the chain link fence, I noticed that my old scenery was really looking old. This is the first section of scenery I did and it is now almost two years old.

It was very basic and I've learned a little since then.

Here is what I'm speaking of. In the next picture you can see the old scenery on the right and the new updated scenery on the left.
