After the A&I was dry, a wash of 70% thinner to 30% Floquil Reefer White was applied.

When dry but not yet cured, a second coat of the 70/30 wash was added.

I'll have more on this build tomorrow evening.

Nice job!  There's no substitute for a full set of scale lumber (styrene and wood) when it comes to scratchbuilding and kitbashing.

Tom,

You must really hate plastic models!

Steve,

No, I just wanted a different look and wanted to try my hand at a very small scratch build.

Thanks for following along.

Dave,

Thank you. I have a full set of wood but not one in styrene. You are correct as it does come in handy when building. I've even had to replace some kit parts and that is when it really comes in handy.

I set the turntable hut to the side and painted the turntable bridge.

I used Floquil's Weathered Black.

You can see the difference in the color by looking at the bottom of the bridge. The weathered black sure looks more realistic than the shinny plastic color.

The bridge arch was also painted with the Floquil Weathered Black.

Time to add some real wood to the turntable bridge deck.

This is how it looks out of the box.

I first painted the rails with Floquil Rail Brown and the cross ties with Floquil Railroad Tie Brown.

Just spent the past 3 days of my vacation going through Part 1 - Part 3, really enjoyed the reading, nice to see everything is on Level.  :)

I stressed 14 scale 2 X 10's and stained them with Hunterline Medium Brown A&I.

When dry, I began gluing them to the deck over the plastic 2 X10's.

I trimmed the ends and then sanded them to the curve of the end of the table.

Lynn,

Thank you; however, I can think of better ways to spend your vacation. Funny, I went back and reread it a few months ago and it took me a few days as well.

I decided to make the scenery on this layout rise above and below the track level. The only incline I have is on the Ovalix.

Thank you for spending the time reading all the parts. You also viewed about 4,125 photos.

I also added planking to the top of the arch.
