If you want that filling material without stress, you might find it at Joanne Fabrics.  But the minimum purchase would probably build a largeish Winter North Atlantic WWII Battle diorama.

James,

I pulled out more than I'll ever need. I did see it at Joan's Fabrics but it didn't give me any ideas. Maybe due to it being in a bag all bunched up.  8)

I hope the church board applied to the Tahope County Commission to obtain permission to cut down all those trees for that church.  And what about the zoning?  The land was zoned agricultural and a variance would have been necessary for a commercial use to be allowed.  In Tahope County, it is difficult to obtain a variance without a significant political contribution.  How was sewer and water obtained?  Tahope Power and Light Co. would have had to provide power and that ain't cheap.  Will the construction of this church be cost-effective?  Not to worry.  The president of the Tahope State BankJ. Pierpont Forester, is a member of the congregation and his secretary, Volupta, keeps the books.  Major contributors include Police Chief Sean O'Malley, Attorney Marvin Bello. and the only doctor in the City of Tahope, Dr. Minnie Staysic.

Judge,

As you know, most folks in Tahope are related in some manner. If not, they're obligated in some manner. A prime example is Three Fingered Freddy's Fireworks located a hundred yards next to the Tahope County country store and gas station.

Tom - I am sure you recall that when "Three Fingers" Freddy applied for the variance to build his firecracker establishment next to the gas station, the City of Tahope had no Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance.  It was just a matter of greasing the palm of County Commissioner Walter "Wheeler the Dealer" Wheeler, who happened to be Freddy's cousin, and the variance was granted.  Walter, by the way, is a regular at the Friday night poker game that takes place in the A&S's only passenger car, a Pullman Solarium spotted at the freight station located south of the city proper.  He is related to Sheriff Dave Star by marriage and Judge Elvin Thomas is his uncle.  Government is tight in Tahope County.

Jerry,

Thank you, much appreciated. The bar is built but as yet to be placed on the layout. I'm only assuming you are referring to a drinking establishment.

The Cracker Boy sign and the two structures were removed. I taped off the road and painted on Elmer's white glue on the slabs.

This will seal the cardboard from water intrusion when the rest of the scenery is added.

More in a few.

When the white glue dried, I redefined the expansion joints.  I then painted on Floquil Concrete using a 1 inch soft bristle brush. When the concrete dries and cures, I'll weather the two slabs.

In the photo above you can see I also started the first layer of scenery between the road and the layout edge.
