That suspended pipe work is a fantastic addition to the engine facilities, Tom.

Cheers, Mark.

Quote from: Philip on April 07, 2025, 03:57:06 PMGood stuff! Walt is talking about re-opening Rusty Stumps on a limited basis. He's 83 now.

Philip,

Thank you, I sent Walt an email to see when he plans to open.

Curt,

Thanks very much. I haven't seen it anywhere other than on John Allens layout.

Ron,

Thanks for the compliment. I've been wanting to do the outside track detail for the past half century. No kidding, this has been in my mind since childhood.

Mike, Howdy,

I appreciate the compliment and you stopping by. This is a scene I've wanted to do for most if not all my modeling life.

Still having fun here.

Hehe

As usual, amazing work Tom.  I didn't even know you could order those pipe fitting parts.  Any idea where you might get those today?

Cousin Brucie,

Good to see you again. I've gone through more than a few pallets my friend. However, I try to drink a bottle of water for every two Diet Pepsis.

I just sent Walt at Rusty Stumps and inquired if he is still selling them.

James,

Thank you and no, the CEO spends what is necessary to have a Class 1 railroad.  ;D

Quote from: nycjeff on April 08, 2025, 06:50:25 PMHello Tom, it's nice to see your layout tour post active again. You are doing your usual great job with your engine service facilities area. The roundhouse area ready tracks with the steam pipes brings back memories of pictures of John Allen's wonderful layout.

Jeff,

Thank you for the comment. John Allen's G&D is my inspiration for this area. I loved how he did the outside of his layout in the engine terminal area.

Mark, Cheers,

I thank you and I agree. It sure improves the roundhouse area. I have tons of details to add which will make it even better. Now, when to find the time to add them.  8)

Some may have noticed the turntable in previous pictures. I used pastel chalks to weather the pit and sides. More weathering will be added later, like spilled ballast, cinders, dirt and other junk.

I added the A&S to the water tower.

I also started the scenery area this area.

The small office is one Reading Bob gifted me some 14 years ago.
