Looking great so far Tom , so glad I can follow your endeavors again , I tried on the other forum but it was so slow .
I love photo's, don't we all.

I never assume the siding from the manufacturer is square. I used a metal square to check.

You can see in the photo below the top is not as wide as the bottom. This means the factory cut is out of square.

I used the square edge and cut the offending end off and get a very clean sharp square edge.

Jan,

Thank you and I'm very happy to see you my friend. Yes, the other forum is a bit slow but I went there when Jimmy D. shut us down over 18 months ago.

Happy to have you follow along on this adventure. I'll do this build here as well.

This next step was a bit tricksie but patience paid off.

I cut the floor to fit and made a test fit as shown.

Back in a few, Diet Pepsi time.

I cut a small notch in the bracing to allow the floor to slide in and fit tightly.

I added a back wall out of the scribed siding I used for the floor. It is level.

I used the cardboard wall piece with the freight door as a template for the fake interior door. I used the same  1/16" scribed siding. I used HO scale 4X4s to trim the opening. After the trim was glued in place, I stained the wood using Hunterline Medium Brown A&I.

The wall warped as it dried.

I stained the back and place it under a weight to hold it flat until dry.

I added scribed siding for the door, trimmed it with HO scale 1X4s and added a 2X4 header. When all was dry, I lightly stained it again.

Here is how the finished interior door looks.

In this next photo you can see a part of the back wall.

Tom,

I just got caught up with this "Cliff Notes" version of this build.  I'm not sure why you call it that, seems like a very coherent progression of steps to me.  As always, I have picked up a couple tips from following your thread.  I'm glad you are again posting here, with my slow internet it seemed like it took me forever to load and view anything on RR-Line.

Jerry,

Thank you for the kind and generous compliment on the REA. The door and trim came out well.
