Thanks for the encouragement Larry and Philip.

The weekend is here and I managed some time at the bench.

This episode is called. . . . . . . .

Working at the Other End of the Valley

Now that the pile bent, girder bridge and trestle deck is built it was time to turn my attention to the retaining wall required at the west end of the bridge.

Staging136.jpg

The front and ring wall constructed.  The wing wall took two tries  :o to get it right.  Left over material from the pile bent kit was used for the flat boards.

Staging137.jpg

Just when thought I was done with NBW castings I found I had a bunch more castings to install.

Staging138.jpg

The pieces clamped together.  I will this way overnight to let the glue fully dry.  I have a feeling that it will get installed tomorrow.

Thanks for looking in everyone.

Great job Ron. I liked that you used NBW's on the bracing.

Thanks Curt, I think the NBW's add a lot of interest to the model and was well worth the effort.

Howdy Ron,

All those NBWs look fantastic and nicely finish the retaining walls.  I have quite a few to build, and I'll go to school on your build.

Have fun,
mike
My current build is the Masonic Lodge and miscellaneous rolling stock .

Thanks Rick, Jerry, Larry, Mike.

More work on the bridge construction, this update is called. . . . . . . .

The End is Near

Staging139.jpg

The retaining wall wall installed.

Staging140.jpg

In order to install the trestle deck I needed to add some blocking to bring the top of the trestle deck even with the top of of the girder deck.

Staging141.jpg

It seems that even measuring 3 times and cutting once doesn't always work.  When put in place the ties at the end of the trestle bent was slightly higher than the yard ties.  This was easily fixed by cutting a notch in the bottom of the stringers.  Once installed you will never see the notch.

Staging142.jpg

The trestle deck in place.

We are near the end of the bridge build, I have just one trestle bent to build that will be installed in the middle of the trestle.  I already got a start on the last bent.

Thanks for looking in.
