A light day today for projects.

Looks like the spring might be here, if the long term weather is accurate. Finally getting rid of those cold days of high 50's and 60's, totally uncivilized weather for the tropics..... ;)

Good morning Curt, ACLTom, Karl, Mike, Rick, Greg and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Curt, sounds like you are making great progress on the boiler house.

ACLTom, better luck next week bowling, have fun with the yard work.

Karl, glad you had fun at the operating session, sounds like you had a couple of interesting jobs.

Mike, have fun on your trip.

Rick, young drivers in F1 don't seem to get a chance to develop if they get off to bad starts.  Enjoy your hike today with Star.

Greg, enjoy the warmer weather.

Currently 62F and sunny here.  Managed some bench time yesterday, got the sign installed on the bas and the Woolworth building as well as added the fire escapes to the Woolworth building.  Only need to add the ladders to the fire escape and then that building will be complete.  Update coming soon.

Have a great day everyone.

Rick, those V&T Baldwin 4-4-0 are great beauties!

A picture from yesterday's walk around town:
1O3A2757.jpeg
This one captures a lot of what I want to talk about.  Bay windows, curved mansard roof, dormer windows, corner quoins, trim on the porch, (painted) brick foundation with wood siding overhanging, under-roof dental trim.  The only thing missing are slates, the roof has been replaced.  A 2 story mansard is unusual, most of them here are 3 story structures.   You can see by the mailboxes this is a multi-family dwelling (there are a couple of annexes to the back, but still surprisingly small for 4 mailboxes.

And I was reminded how much I still need to learn about the R7, even for this kind of relatively simple photography.

Good Morning,

Curt thanks for the coffee and breakfast.

Rick nice photos of very well kept locos.

It's 36 with a high of 38 in New York. Early errands this am so I'm late getting here.
The generator was a bust. The price was doubled from what I had expected so that idea was a hard pass;
couldn't justify the cost versus expectancy. Not much else going on here today.

Enjoy your day!!! Be well and stay safe.

Good morning from Wisconsin. A nice day that should end up in the high 50's.

A last minute decision on breakfast out. Small town local diner. Eggs were Market Price plus 10%. $5.40 per dozen today on the sign so $.45 each plus 10%. I've only seen Market Pricing in Wisconsin for Lobster and Crab! It was well worth it though, just excellent all around.

Some more clean up today and finishing inspecting before billing. Thursday is medical starting at 6:30am filling the entire morning. I am hopeful to be home by 1:30

Enjoy the day

Good Morning All,

Today for breakfast is coffee, cereal, bagels, yogurt, OJ, and soda.

Started out the day with a walk at 59F and clear. Yesterday I started building the cable assembly. Since white metal parts have to be epoxied it is very slow going. I must of read the directions and looked at the photos a dozen times before I started and still put the main reel supports in backwards :o  :-X .

Luckily I caught it before it was too late. SMH. After that I probably spent close to an hour reading the next steps and handling the associated parts.

Last night an old co-worker called and we caught up on old times and current events. He has a son in the Marines getting ready to be promoted to Major.

Dave that is a spectacular looking house.

Rick nice photos.

TomO it sounds like you are back on track again.

Tom sorry to hear about the bowling.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning everyone.

Shasta, CA weather: Showers. High near 58.

Curt, thanks for the coffee and breakfast.
I've glued things backwards or upside down far too many times so I can sympathize.

TomO, hope all goes well this morning with the medical.

Larry, I admired how ornate and clean those engines were and surely thought it was only because they were in a museum.
So I asked if they were that well kept while in service and was told that they were.

Dave, there are tons of videos on Youtube on how to adjust your settings and how to use different functions on your camera.
When I get a new body, first thing I do is watch one of those videos.

Philip, what's new?

Ron, glad you had some time for modeling.

Greg, enjoy the spring weather.

Jerry, any news from Joisey?

Karl, still making progress on the layout?

ACLTom, still wondering on the next project?

Mike, how was yesterday's 1:1 adventure?

Star and I did that hike at the trail we were parked next to yesterday.
It was only .7 miles and less than 200' of climbing, but the views and colorful rock formations was excellent.
Wanted camp last night next to a lake in a National Forest but it was s#$@ed in.  >:(
Did a lot of extra driving to get to a lower elevation where that white stuff was gone.
Weather for the next 5 days looks wet every day.
Still making my way to Redwood NP.

A short 1 minute video of the view from yesterday's hike.

Have a great day everyone.

Morning all,

Thanks for breakfast Curt.

Rick, I'm just putting together some DPM buildings to see how they may look on Main Street Tahope. I also have many of the
City Classics structures along with all the old Magnuson buildings. City Classics and Magnuson will most likely go on the third level.

I spent six hours working in the yard yesterday. Edged and cut the grass, raked leaves and trimmed five palm trees. I drank plenty of H2O but still cramped a few times during the night.

I'm taking it easy today and will take Pam out to dinner later for our 35th Anniversary. That day will be Sunday but going out today will beat the church crowd.

Have a safe and happy day everyone.

Morning Gents,

Curt thanks for the coffee and breakfast. Yup, been there done that putting parts in the
wrong way and that was with a scratch build; go figure. Take your time and you'll figure
out the next steps.

Rick at least you have the option of getting away from the white stuff; safe travels.

Tom HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to you and Pam; enjoy dinner.

What's happening in your world?

It's a sunny 27 with a high of 48 in New York; going to be in the 50's the next several days.
A few errands to run then not sure after that. I've been wanting to start some yard work but it's
still a little too chilly for my tastes.

Enjoy your day!!! Be well and stay safe.

Some company did a ready-to-run model of a 2 story Mansard roof house like the one in my picture.  Does anyone remember who?

The challenge is doing the Mansard roof line.  The way I've done that is to mill a subroof.  Laser-kit makers have done this by cutting formers/bracing with the slope & bottom curve, and then using thin material over top of that to form the roof.

Happy Anniversary to Tom & Pam.  (Our anniversary is this weekend, 43 years of not killing each other :-) :-) )
