Mike, I wonder if the prototype would have curtains, both for reflecting light at night and for privacy?

(I'm not suggesting adding them to the model, that would restrict seeing the interior...  Same reasoning I used for my model.)

Howdy Dave, most lodge rooms don't have windows at all, but I wanted to show off the interior...just like you did.  ;D  ~mike
My current build is the Masonic Lodge and miscellaneous rolling stock .

Howdy folks,

Larry, Jerry, and Kyle, thank you for your comments and support.  They make me smile.

I think the structure placement on the layout is about complete.

Here is the left area before the stone bridge. Homer's Place Saloon is on the right.  The three white placards are placeholders for the final three structures in Phase I.  From left to right, they are the Post Office, Barber Shop, Sheriff's Office, and Marcoux Hotel.

I sorted through my window and door stash and have them on hand for each of the structures.  I'll begin designing them in CAD next.  All will be wood frame except for the Sheriff's Office, which will be stone.

The center section hosts the Masonic Lodge, Nowlin Gas Station, fire station, and Cowles General Store.

The right section now hosts Parish Livery and Palitti Tannery.  I moved those two out of the main downtown area because I figure they would be stinky.

I am anxious to start planting the structures with scenery and details, but that's it for now.

Have fun,

Splendid layout! When I was planting buildings on my 6x6 I figured I'd have plenty of room but in hindsight I should of put them closer. ala dress right, dress ;D

Mike, placements all look good and good idea moving the stinky ones.

Larry C

Mike nice job on the building placements. I agree with Rick the "stinky" ones need to away from downtown.

Howdy folks,

Jerry, Curt, Philip, Rick, and Larry, thanks for your guidance and support.

I started the design of the post office.  It will be a small structure, as seen on the left in the first image of the TBD structures above.

Parameters
Size 3" X 4".  Sidewall height around 3-4"
False front
Roof pitch 12/12
Board and batten siding
White paint
Fishscale shingles painted green
Two front windows - .65 X 1.47"
One front door - .85" X 2.25"

I'll try to get this into the CAD program today.

Have fun,
mike

Mike, Howdy,

The Union Lodge looks fantastic. The Union Hall is really very nice work. The masonic symbol on the upper front facade is a nice touch. Well done, very well done.
