I've now added some trees and drawn in (you can't see it) some shadow detail on the rockface/landform I painted earlier. :)  I also added the lines for the trunks of the trees that I'll add to the backdrop in pastels. :)  I hope to color in the rock details later today; then I might start on the trees..... ::) .....

Here's some shots of what it looks like right now...... ;D  ;D

I'll add some 'olive color' to the trees in the backdrop that are closest to the 3D trees as I get further along.... that'll help 'blend' it all together. ;)  ;)   The ones that are farther back won't get very much, :o   as their color looks different because of the distance and the way the sunlight illuminates them ;D  ;D ......
Let me know how it looks ya'll.....and thanx again for stoppin' by and havin' a look-see.... 8)  ;D  ;)

Thanx Dave, and thanx Larry C*.;

It's nice of you to notice Dave ;) sometimes the little things go by the wayside.....my younger brother came by on Wednesday and said the same thing-'bluer' in the distance ;D ......Larry C*., I always appeciate when you take a moment to drop a comment......... ;)

Today (Friday) I had a MD. appt.- ??? ....all's well, the little spots of dry shin I get are just that...dry skin, a little lotion, & don't pick at them >:( !!! and everything will be alright.....in otherwords - "Don't poke the bear" >:(  >:(  >:(  :o !!!!!!!

So I came home and started in on the backdrop.... :o  :o ..I decided to go ahead and 'create the 3rd of the "Tres Hombres"......(ZZ TOP reference intended) then work my way across the scene from back to front and left to right :o  ;D  ;D  ;D ....Here's a shot of the latest 'creation'......I hope it 'passes muster' ;D  ;D  8)  8) ......sure has been a lot of folks 'kickin' th' tires' peekin' in on the G&D Ry Co.  thanx to ya'll for the interest; and to all those that offer comments and or suggestions.......it's very much needed and appreciated ;D  ;D  ;D  ;) .......ya'll stay tuned.........

Here we go.........

Next up is figuring out how I want to 'do' the area at the base of the 'thing' ::)  ::) ...that'll determine how close it is and what type of rockwork and trees/brush and other 'debri' I need to create to tie the scene all together before I move on to the nex bit.... ???  ??? ....I think I need to let it 'bake for a while'..... :o  8)  8)  8)  8)  8) it'll come to me.....it always does ;)  ;)  ;)  ;)  8)... have a great weekend....................................... 8)  ;)

Enjoy yer weekend....................

kyle creel

I got so sick and tired of looking at the way the more recent work on the backdrop was turning out and how much more I liked the way it looked- ;D  ;D as opposed to the original portion that I started on a year ago. ::)  :o  >:( .......So I decided to fix it :o  :o  ???  ::)  >:( ....out with the old and in with the new ;D  ;D  ;D  :)  ;) ............lose the green mountains...THANX MICHAEL ;D  ;D you were right ;)  ;) .... and let's do a new horizon under the anvil cloud ;D  ;D hmmmmm ::)  ::)  ::) I know  :o a couple of mesas and my version of 'Shiprock'...in New Mexico ;D  ;D  ;D  ;)  8)  8)  8) ...... more to come..........hope ya'll like it.......thanx again for stoppin'by ;D  ;)  8)  8) ...............see ya............

BEHOLD..................................
036.JPG
037.JPG

this way ....as you follow the backdrop around from the entry and move to your right  :o  :o the high desert gives way to a rocky semi forested area and finally to a hilly/semi-rocky-grassland type of terrain; ;D  ;D  ;D kinda like the old walthers backdrops you could combine.... 8)  8)  8)  8) ........
oh well I think it will, hell it already does look lots better...... ;)  ;)  ;)  ;)  ;D  ;D
