Morning Gents,

Tom O I couldn't agree with you more on the housing issue. Sorry to hear about the passport; hope the vacation is salvageable.

The morning beverages are on the sideboard. Breakfast cheesy scrambled eggs, toast, butter, crispy bacon and /or pan sausages along with hash browns; dig in.

What's your plans for the day.

It's already a very muggley 75 with a high of 94 in New York; a heat advisory has been posted for the day. We had our Doc's apt, yesterday and both received "a clean bill of health." After 6 years a young Nurse decided I needed an EKG; good news is it hasn't changed in the past 6 years so I guess I'm still "alive & kicking." With the heat today I can hear the bench calling my name. Dinner tonight will be real crispy bacon, homegrown bs tomatoes fresh from the fields and salt potatoes....yummo.

Have a great day!!! Watch the heat, be well, and stay safe.

TomO, good luck resolving the passport issue.  (Here, a neighbor got a passport for his 4 year old kid, that was supposedly delivered 2 days ago.  But he never got it!  If there's an option for "sign for delivery", consider that.)

Today's the start of 2 Florida days, but it should get cooler, if not drier, over the weekend.  I got exactly nothing done yesterday, another day of errands and dealing with my ISP on an issue I reported.  They're sending someone here today to check my modem, there's a potential problem with the modem as well as the en-route problem I reported to them.  (One of their nodes is showing a lot of delays.  I convinced the Tier 1 person of that with some stuff I sent.  She spent more time convincing their Network Operations Center -they- have a problem.)

Thanks for the breakfast Larry!

Another smoker here also.

Got to help with the garden this am. Gena has been out there for awhile. In trouble again :o

Have a great Thursday!

Rick

Good morning everyone.

McCall weather: Sunny, with a high near 82.

Larry, thanks for the coffee and breakfast.
Congratulations on the clean bill of health.

Dave, hope the ISP issues are resolved.

TomO, hope you can get the passport issue resolved in time.

Philip, enjoy those tomatoes and peppers.

Jerry, what's today's plan?

Karl, any more kit work yesterday?

Ron, any distractions last night?

ACLTom, hope the yard work is done and you can get back to the book.

Mike, did you make it to the paint store?

Curt, I hope to visit Yosemite eventually.

Star and I did our hike yesterday but not without a major delay and route change.
I felt fine first thing in the morning but as I was heading to the trailhead I was starting to feel bad.
By the time I arrived at the trailhead I had a full blown Diverticulitis attack.
Haven't had one of those in over 20 years.
I could barely stand let alone hike so I went back to bed.
Slept for about 2 hours and woke around 9 feeling much better.
The trail we were doing was a loop and right at the trail start going counterclockwise was a log crossing across a stream.
Didn't want to risk walking across that and decided to head in the other direction.
Instead of doing the loop, I climbed to the peak of the trail, which is approximately half way and then turned around and went back.
Still did 6.57 miles and 1,270' of climbing.
Today will be a rest day and work on pictures and video.

Another picture from Monday's hike.

Fogged in at the moment here on the shoreline, after an evening and night filled with heavy lightning, thunderous thunder, and copious quantities of rain...IMG_2321.png that started around 6 pm and continued past darkness and then another round in the 0300 period with long rolling tolls of thunder like a slow roller on a bowling alley.   :o

The estate sale wasn't TOO painful and we spent the rest of the day back at the shack by the swamp.  The Doll spent some time on the computer and determined most of what she purloined at the sale was of some worth for resale, her intent for the majority of it.

After dinner I spent an hour or so putting more siding board on the tobacconist store building.

We had a nice sunset through the trees a couple nights ago.  Northern Command from the beach

We have a grand babe headed up from downstate that should arrive later, txt at ~0630 she was enroute.

Yes TomO the current young adults are quite self entitled, therefor the "affordable housing crisis". They don't want that, they seem to need to have the big monster house as first priority. They don't think twice about the big crib and a $60 to $90,000 car or two to put in the 3-4 bay garage.

That concludes this report. Over and out.

Morning everyone

Larry thanks for the coffee & breakfast.
Sounds like a plan.

Dave good luck with the ISP.

Philip sounds like the garden is doing well.

Rick a beautiful picture to start my day!!  Thanks.

Karl what a great view of the house.  Beautiful looking scenery.

Weather in south Jersey sunny/78.  Later on 88.
Not sure what we have planned today.
Hopefully before it's gets to warm I can get some time at the bench.

Everyone have a great day!!  :)

Good morning TomO, Larry, Dave, Philip, Rick, Karl, Jerry and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Larry, congrats on the clean bill of health.

It's another sunny day here in Southeastern Ontario with a current temperature of 23C (73F).  I did make it downstairs last night and avoided most of the distractions and got another 3ft of track laid.  This will probably be all the track laying that will be done as our On30 group has a set up this weekend.  Tonight will be loading the modules into the car (will be setting up tomorrow afternoon) and getting the recycling ready to go out.  I have a bunch of large cardboard boxes that need to be broken down, cut up and then bundled.

Have a great day everyone.

Morning all,

Well, I missed breakfast but, I've been busy. I try to get stuff done early in the morning prior to the heat. I trimmed some bushes and vacuumed the SUV.

I'm with Dave, TomO and Larry on the house issue. We get calls all the time wanting to know if we want/will sell the house. I tell them 3.5 M and they can have it. They don't call back. I plan to live out my life here.

Larry, great health report.

Rick, another fantastic photo to add to my "Rick Photo File". My plan is to resume the book writing on August 1st. Very sorry to hear about the stomach issue.

Philip, what's in the garden?

Ron, I'm guessing it is hand laid track?

My work bench is now clean and won't see any structure builds until at least late October or early November.

Have a safe and happy day everyone.

Karl, Nice Northern Command!

Jerry, hope you do find time for the bench.

Tom

Well, the tech came out, replaced our fiber modem and redid the fiber splices.  Those were previously done manually, and he has a spiffy machine that does them getting MUCH better reliability/signal.  BUT the new modem also hosts our house phone service, and that's not working.  I'm guessing they have to do something on their back end to recognize the new modem as (legitimately) servicing our phone number.

So a step forward and a step backwards....   And while I'm on hold with Tech Support, I'm not in the basement modeling...

Good Afternoon All,

Thanks for opening and the coffee Larry.

Today I got started with chores around the house before posting. We have discovered that one of the skunks we're babysitting can climb over the separation fence around the dining room. We have found him twice wandering around like he owns the place. ::)

Tom sorry to hear about you stopping modeling for several months but understand about the book. :D

Rick your photos continue to be impressive.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Well, most of the day was spent waiting for callbacks from the ISP, or sitting with the dogs reading a book.  But I did find the paper I want to use for (leather) belts and cut one narrow slice from it.  I'll test out my belt-installing approach by adding a thin belt to the one drill press that has an internal cone (and a single drive pulley).   I have a Fiskars rotary trimmer, but the wheel and the cutting pad are both worn.  I do have replacement cutting wheels and ordered a replacement cutting pad.  For this, I need clean cuts on really thin long strips.

Good evening folks,

TomO, thanks for opening.  Good luck with getting Terry's passport.  Good luck with the locomotives, too.

Larry, thanks for the coffee and breakfast. A big congrats on the good EKG.  Of course, that means real crispy bacon for supper!

Dave, good luck with the modem and phone connection. I had that problem several times and they didn't believe it was their problem, lol.

Philip, hope the garden was fun.  Congrats on the fantastic 3D prints for the cooling coils.  Amazing.

Rick, hope you are feeling better.  That stuff is a tail kicker.  Glad you were feeling better and able to go on a hike with Star.

Karl, what a fantastic-looking place you have. Wishing you a nice visit with the grandchild.

Jerry, hope you had a grand day.  I always have to look twice when reading bench vs. beach!

Ron, congrats on the track laying success.  The module groups sound like a trainload of fun.

TomACL, congrats on the early morning 1:1 stuff.  That workbench is way too neat, so what's next?

Curt, animals are cleverer than we give them credit for.

Gregory, hope you had a fantastic day.  Good luck with the boomers.

It was a cloudy, muggy, and warm day at 88°F.  I got up at 5 a.m. and went upstairs.  I worked on the scrap car until 11 a.m., when I started feeling bad. I finally went back to bed and stayed until around 3:00 p.m.  I still felt bad so took some medicine and felt better in an hour or so.

Yesterday, a lodge friend invited me to pick green beans and tomatoes in his garden, so that's what we had for supper tonight.  They were oh so good.  I didn't make it to the paint store, maybe tomorrow.

Have fun,
mike
