Good morning everyone.

50 currently and sunny with a high of 70 in Tacoma.

Curt, thanks for the coffee and breakfast.
Looks like you're ready to start building.

Larry, hope the phone doesn't give you any more problems.

I'm on my phone because I didn't feel like setting up the computer yesterday so I'm keeping it short today.
Had a good time watching the'Skins play well and win.
Costco this morning then Rainier NP.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning. 58f degrees heading to 80???

Volleyball on the UW campus against Florida was exciting, sloppy VB but exciting. 17-25, 25-20, 25-22, 36-34 with the UW women winning. They didn't announce the attendance but it looked like around 14,000 which is the money grab they were looking for. You know the term, grow the sport! Normally in the UW Fieldhouse it is a sold out impossible ticket for 8000 fans for about the last 12 seasons. The Badgers as they start the conference schedule Friday are a good young team. Not the normal top 5 ranked team in the NCAA but a good team. I'm thinking 3 or 4 in the conference and maybe #8-10 overall. I think we will see loses in the Fieldhouse we have not seen in years.

Measured up levels for the layout. 43" and 58" felt good to my new height of 5'9". One of the guys is 6'2 and other was 6'0 and it was ok for them. I know one of the layouts we operate on has 46" and 60" levels and I like the layout. But when we set the shelves at those heights it didn't feel right. Now to ponder what I really want to do as I have an adversion to losing a train in a helix. I'd like a nolix but I'm not sure how to hide it. Stay tuned, this ain't over!

We did dinner yesterday out and it was good. One of the local "chains" before Covid had 6 locations. Last Spring they shut down the 16 year location in Wausau and November 8 they are shutting down the Hilldale location after 19 years. That is Terry's favorite location. We used Terry's birthday discount they send her every year for her September b-day. I asked the server and he said both shutdowns were because of lease disputes and the owners of the restaurant said enough is enough! I didn't ask about the 1 closed during Covid. They will still have 3 Madison area locations but a new 1 somewhere in Sendai, Japan opening in 2/2026. Our server was one of the 1st hires back in the early 90's at the still open original location.

Rick, super on the aid.

Karl, great pictures from the Sunset Valley and that eagle picture is good enough for a frame.

Larry, phone advice I can give! Don't throw it...

Not sure what today will bring but what happens, happens. No plans are good sometimes

Be well

Morning all,

Thanks for breakfast Curt. Have fun with all the chores. How's dad doing with the busted knee?

TomO, I watched the Gator VB game and was disappointed they lost but UW was the better team. Gators kept it close though.

Karl, I also loved the eagle picture. Looks like he was looking for a quick meal.

Today, I'll do a little more editing practice and work on the book a little as well.

Have a great day everyone and stay safe and healthy.

Bright overcast after a whole lot of rain at times Sunday afternoon.  Much needed.

I worked on trying to learn more info on the 3d printing.  It's coming along slowly.  Now that I have the enclosure and vent system working, I'm taking it easy as there are plenty of distractions this week, 'scope tomorrow morning after pre-prep and prep.  IF that comes out ok, we're contemplating a trip North at the end of the week, eye Doc app't Thursday.  A bit stressed for tomorrow, as the Doll had one not go well in May and ended up in surgery for a repair.  Scared me, a lot more than she knows, she's finally feeling herself but not keen on me putting myself thru it.  Should be the last I have as I am 'timing out' in my stay here, statistically ???

Enjoy the day all.  It does look a bit greener out after that rain.

Good afternoon folks,

Curt, thanks for opening and breakfast.  Good luck with the chores.

Larry, good luck with the phone.  Have fun at the bench.

Rick, wishing you a fantastic Rainier NP visit.

TomO, good luck with the layout height.

TomACL, have fun learning the software.  Repetition is always good.

Jerry, hope you made it to the bench.

Larry, good luck with the 3D stuff.  It's fun but time-consuming.  Hope the eye doc goes well.

How is the rest of the crew?

I worked upstairs for a while.  The lodge furniture is finished and ready to be planted.  I worked on images for the walls, etc.

Have fun,
mike

Back from the vet.  The lump on the dog's neck is benign, just a lumpy cyst that gets aggravated by being rubbed by her collar.  VERY good news.

Good morning everyone.

Rainier NP weather: Currently it's 47 with a high in the mid 60's and sunny.

Jerry, thanks for the coffee and breakfast.
I was wondering why you were up so early.

Dave, that's great news from the vet.

Mike, I'm sure we'll be seeing an update soon.

Karl, hope the prep went well and good luck with the procedure.

ACLTom, hope you're making good progress with the video editing and the book.

TomO, I guess I missed the post about you building a layout.

Hope everyone else is doing very well.

I got to the park around 11:30 yesterday and boy is it crowded.
There are two good sized parking lots at the visitors center and had to drive around them three times before getting a spot.
I'm up extra early again to do a hike and Star as usual can't join me.  :-\

A quick phone pic I took here of Myrtle Falls.

Morning Gents,

Jerry thanks for the coffee and breakfast. I was wondering why you were up sooooo early. Hope all goes well for your neighbor.

Rick nice photo; obviously you do ok with heights. Gonna have to give Star some extra treats for staying behind; hike safely.

What's on your plate today.

It's a rainy 64 with a high of 74 in New York but we can use the rain and my new grass will love it. Going to Home Depot shortly for a new shade for the bedroom and some miniblinds for the bathroom. After that , and they're installed, maybe some bench time.

Have a great day!!! Be well and stay safe.

Good  Morning All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Jerry. That is a very nice thing you're doing for your neighbor.

Slow start this morning. Had to drop off the van at the shop for yet another electrical issue. :-X The van is a 2006 Kia Sedona. It still drives great but is starting to nickel and dime us.

After chores this morning I'll start on the kit.

Rick enjoy your hike. You'll need to give Star some extra loving later.

Larry good luck with the blinds.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning crew,

Jerry, thanks for opening, coffee, and breakfast. Safe travels to the hospital.

Rick, hope you enjoy the hike.  I hope to post some photos soon.

Larry, sounds like the 1:1 activities continue.  Good luck at the bench.

Curt, good luck with the van repair.

Dave, good news about your dog. I know you must be relieved.

How is the rest of the crew today?

It's another bright morning, but cooler at 88°F.  We're meeting our daughter for lunch, then I have lodge this afternoon and tonight.

Have fun,
mike

Morning all,

Thanks for breakfast Jerry and the fresh OJ.

Jerry, I haven't done anything on the book in the past 8 months. Hernia surgery in Dec. '24 put me on the sideline and after recovery I went on the other projects. However, over the past few weeks, I've been reviewing what I have and pacing all my notes in a time line so I can refer to them as I continue the chapters.

Rick, very nice photo today. My "Rick's Travel Photo File" is getting very big.

Yesterday I finished my second video. Its 6:52 minutes long. I took some of the video clips I shot a George Sellios' F&SM layout, combined them, added music and a loco steam sound. I added the music as the talking in the background was very annoying while watching the video. The steam sound I substituted was from my own 0-8-0.

My next three videos will be The Structures on the A&S RR, Steam on the A&S RR and Diesels on the A&S RR.

Have a safe and happy day everyone.
