Good Morning,

Curt thanks for the coffee and breakfast. Sorry to hear about the pool parts. Have fun at the bench.

Rick enjoy your time with family.

Tom good luck on the video.

What's on your docket for the day.

It's a cloudy 23 with a high of 33 and maybe? some more white stuff. I guess I shouldn't complain abut the sn*w; the folks north of us in the Tug Hill Plateau are projected on getting 2-3+ feet over the next 24 hours. That's like 2 inches an hour....yikes!!! Made it to the bench for about an hour yesterday then spent the afternoon wrapping presents which I hope to finish today along with the stockings being stuffed. I ran across something I hadn't thought about in years....a shortwave radio kit that I built a long time ago. Opened it up and the 9 volt battery was still in it but thankfully it hadn't leaked and ruin the radio. Turned it on and it still works so going to buy a new battery since the old one is weak and see what happens; I may have to recalibrate the radio.

Have a great day!! Be well and stay warm.

Good morning folks,

Curt, thanks for opening, coffee, and breakfast.  Good luck with the filter.

Rick, sounds like a fun day with the kids.

TomACL, the video sounds neat.  Looking forward to it.

Larry, the old radio sounds like fun.

How is the rest of the crew?

It's a bright morning in the Piedmont.  The high is forecast for 69°F.  I'll take it.  Last night, we attended a music concert of Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong music last night.  The group was from a Florida university, department heads, etc.  It was an amazing reproduction of the original tunes. Hope to make it upstairs today.

Have fun,
mike

Light snow, lake effect it looks like on radar, and teens in Michigan today, no big accumulation I think.  I didn't take the time to listen to the TV site forecast.

I went with the Doll to a couple shopping places yesterday, she had a fellow get in her face and scream nasties at her Thursday while she was out.  She pulled up next to his car in a parking lot to answer a phone call.  She doesn't talk and drive, she didn't see him in it and he thought she was too close so went ballistic.  Shook her up, so I went along yesterday, world is too full of that.  Planned layout time was cut into.  I did get at a 3d calibration print that came out well.

The Lansing NMRA Div 5 is meeting today in Charlotte, about 15 miles SE of me rather than E of E. Lansing more like 30 miles, where they usually meet.  I let my membership lapse but they allow me to attend, reluctantly(?)  ;)  mostly half are the same crew as Andy's OPS crew.  It should be a nice break, next OPS is on Monday.

The Ann Arbor soap opera continues and is so sad, no more comment there.  They need a deep sweep of the Athletic dept.  NO WAY was this "new information"  just a convenient way to dump the fool without paying him off.

That's it from here.

Ron, Happy Birthday and Homecoming!  Enjoy.

Ron, sorry I misread your birthday post.
Happy Birthday!

Good morning from chilled Wisconsin. +7f degrees feeling like -15. We might top out at +9 but the app says it will still be below 0 with the wind chill. There is no sight of the sun yet!

Back to the power plant wall builds today to cover the pillar. I did stay away from it yesterday as I needed a break.

The wife has banned me from the kitchen today from 10 to 4 as she is starting the Xmas cakes and fruit breads. She will make my lunch sandwich and deliver it to my work bench. I have a wonderful habit of sticking my finger in the mix bowls and taste testing. She has never liked me doing that.

Be well

Good morning Curt, Rick, ACLTom, Larry, Mike Karl, TomO and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Curt, hope the pool part issue gets resolved shortly.

Rick, great photo, not very often you see a lighthouse on lake, enjoy the day with the family.

ACLTom, looking forward to the next video.

Larry, have fun playing with the short wave radio.

Mike, glad you enjoyed the concert. Have fun upstairs later today.

Karl, enjoy the NMRA meet.

TomO, taste testing is the best part of baking.  ;D  Have fun working on the boiler house.

Current temperature is -6c (22f) and cloudy, almost shorts and t-shirt weather here.  Had a quiet birthday with the Mrs recovering and ended up running some errands for her.  We will celebrate my birthday when she is feeling better.  I did manage some bench time last night working on the boxcar sides, I hope to finish them tonight, then I can post an update.

Have a great day everyone.

"I have a wonderful habit of sticking my finger in the mix bowls and taste testing. " so says TomO...

;D  Now THAT is one of life's true pleasures...I've said that sometime before I hit the EXIT I am going to buy a cake mix and mix it all up and get a bib and a big spoon... :P  ;)

Had a little old lady slap my hand at Sam's club for reaching for a chocolate chip cookie dough square... :o

Good Morning,

All the usual morning beverages are ready for your enjoyment. Breakfast is sausage gravy over homemade biscuits with sides of hash browns.

What are your plans for the day.

It's a cloudy 16 with a high of 22 here. ALL the presents are wrapped and under the tree and the cards will all be sent out tomorrow; now it's time to sit back and watch all the crazies have at it. Had great success with the shortwave radio. Put in a fresh 9v battery and hooked up my 20 ft. indoor antenna. listened last night and picked up a number of stations including the US Coast Guard maritime report; neat stuff. Had a nice surprise yesterday. There's an e-magizine I get called the "Micro Model Railway Dispatch" by Ian Holmes. I had submitted Jacobs' Landing and he included it in the Winter issue as a "work in progress". I'm hoping to have it finished by the summer issue and I'll resubmit another article with the finished layout and much more detail. When the magazine is available to the general public I'll post the link if anyone's interested.

Have a great day!! Be well and keep warm.

Larry, thanks for the coffee and breakfast.
Congratulations on the radio fun and the inclusion in the e-zine.

Everyone else sleeping in today?
I slept later than usual.

Philip, good morning.

TomO, hope the hand is OK.

Karl, totally agree about bowl licking and I'll include cookie dough tasting as well.
Sorry your wife had that experience with that jerk.

Jerry, hope the crazies didn't get you.

Ron, hope your wife is feeling much better.

Mike, glad you enjoyed that concert.

ACLTom, how'd the video turn out?

How's the rest of the crew?

The boyfriends sister, she lives in Utah, came to visit for four days.
Their mom and her husband came over later.
They brought hot dogs which were cooked over an open fire and enjoyed by all.
More kids time today.
