What's on your agenda?

It's a sunny but cool 56 with a high of 81; it was 50 on the back porch @ 5:30 am. Grocery shopping shortly then have to do some online shopping for the diorama and hopefully an update later today. Also I think the lawn needs to be mowed this afternoon; it's been a couple of weeks.

Good morning Crew. So. Central Wisconsin air quality still sucks though not as bad as most of last week. It's 63f now going to 86 with hopefully storms this morning. We need the rain but it'd really be nice to breathe comfortably outside for at least a couple days. AQI this morning is better at 133 which is unhealthy for all but really tough for those with breathing issues.

The new place is comfortable as I just finished sleeping here for the 4th night.

Hopeful that the 8:30am storms stop here in the area. The place (not sure what to call it yet) overlooks 4 white fenced horse corrals and pasture beyond. It's pretty. The small sitting space outside is 18' up and big enough for my outdoor love seat and another patio chair. Faces west which seems ok from wake-up till about 2pm. Because of the smoke though it hasn't been used but a couple hours on Friday evening.

This afternoon the son in law and me will set up the party tent where the new house if we really decide to build would be built. The tent will take about 30 minutes for us to set up and it has proven it can handle strong winds and rain. We can test out the spot over the next few days to see if it's really where Terry wants to spot the house. I like the spot and the view over the wetlands is nice but I believe it will be mosquito heaven.

This morning till then I will be mostly at the bench creating birch tree armatures.

Jim, that pickle factory looks awesome. Love the ladder.

Larry. Neighbors are still cutting up trees. I worked about 2 hours picking up. The wind was blowing directly out of the north. My foyer was soaked in a pool of water. So much for door seals.

Ron, same results as usual this F1 season.
But it does look like more teams are getting a handle on the new cars.
Best part of the race for me was seeing Russell out of the race.

James, I was out yesterday before sunrise and did see the night sky.

How's everyone else.

I started hiking before sunrise to the top of the sand dunes.
I didn't bring Star with me.
Wandering around in the dunes in the dark was very disorientating.
It looked like the big dunes were right in front of me but it took almost a mile to start going up.
And boy was it tough going up those dunes.
I never made it to the top and gave up.
I took some pictures but sunrise wasn't so great because there weren't any clouds or interesting light.
My legs were hurting when I got back in the van.
But that didn't stop me from driving to another trailhead on the other side of the road where Star and I did 6 miles and 1,400' of climbing.
It was amazing seeing the stark difference in landscape from one side of the road to the other.
The Sahara on one side and typical mountains and trees on the other side.
I'll go to Chama today to see what I can see at the narrow gauge yard.

Rick, it seems the Mercedes are still better than the other cars, and you're right, same result.  Kimi has now won 6 races this season.

Jim, the pickle factory looks great.

Current weather is 19c (66f) and partly cloudy.  After spending some time doing some weeding at my mom's house and doing the grocery run, the Mrs decided we needed some more plants planted at the front of the house.    So, after a run to the nursery more plants got planted.  After that, I was done for the day, so I went inside and watched the F1 race.  I did make it to the layout after dinner and glues down the ties where the staging yard switch will do and dropped a few more feeder wires from the staging yard.

Maybe some shingles later in the day seeing I've missed 3 days because its to warm in my room.

Good Afternoon All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Mike. I hope there won't be sticker shock on the Z3.

Today started at the VA for a large blood draw (probably close to 10 tubes) followed by a so-so restaurant breakfast then taking Dad on his weekly errands. After getting back home I spent a couple of hours at the workbench. MOH should be back home from SC in about an hour.

Friday Dad has a VA appointment in the morning.

The Odyssey was good.  We saw it at an IMAX, and the rear channels were too loud and washed out some of the dialog. Good acting, and I think it followed Homer's poem well. I'll reread the Odyssey after watching the movie.

Rick, the Z3 had no problems when I bought it.  I'm just having the Inspection II (60,000 miles) done.  BMW owners will be familiar with Inspection II.  It includes everything from an oil and filter change, brake and radiator flush, transmission filter and fluid flush, spark plugs, plug coils, rear differential fluid change, new battery...  It is expensive but promises to add years to the life of the car.  Having owned 12 BMWs in my 79 years, I knew what to expect. It all started in Germany in 1973... The cost can take your breath away.

Good evening from still smoke filled Wisconsin where we are waiting for the rain!

Jerry, the house decision is a ways off. The site check is a new one for us but interesting. We went out at 3 and sat there under the tent for about 45 minutes. Wearing masks though negated the fun. The AQI is finally under 100 sitting at 94 which is still tough for Terry. Tonight around 8:30 the plan is to go out there butvI will be wearing mosquito repellant.

Rick, we are in a very nice space and it's big. It's over 1000' from the daughter's house but it seems much more isolated than that. We are trying to decide if we cut the garage door opening that's framed down stairs or not. We've never lived in a place where our cars stayed outside!

The bar is open for any drink, food or snack is available. The fire is burning and it feels good and the smoke blends in with the wildfire smoke we are getting.

I am having a vanilla malted and some milk duds? The Eagle Rare still has some in the bottle...

I made a mistake yesterday.
I said I was going to Chama yesterday but I was looking at the directions to Chama, CO.
That was only 35 miles away.
The real Chama in NM was MUCH further away.
So instead I went to the Cumbres & Toltec yard in Antonito, CO.
Trains don't run on Monday's. 
But I enjoyed walking around the yard videoing everything I saw.
I'll eventually get around to putting that video together and getting it on YouTube.
Costco today mainly to get food for Star.
After that I'll get close to the trailhead for the hike I have planned on Thursday.

Started out the day with a walk at 79F and windy so no humidity concerns. After chores I'll continue to add details to the walls. It looks like I have a roof to add over the 3 freight doors on the one wall then the next step is to put the walls together.
