Good morning folks,

Rick, thanks for opening, coffee, and breakfast.  It's easy to spend a day in those yards.

How is the rest of the crew?

It's a hazy morning and hot. Today's plans include time upstairs.  I am near the completion of the Model T, but the front fenders have been giving me heck.  I think I will turn my attention to the layout next.

Mike leaving the Model T for a bit may be a good idea then return to it after a few days away.

What's happening in your world.

It's a sunny 74 with a high of 81 and rain. The wether guessers are touting possible tornadoes later today; hopefully NOT!! Seems ANY rotation in the wind they're calling it a tornado; never heard of such a thing when I was growing up. Hopefully some bench time today and a trip to the grower a few miles up the road for some fresh corn and tomatoes....yum.

Good morning from So Central Wisconsin that is smoke free this morning. The AQI is at 54. The reason? 15 mph winds that started last night and have continued overnight into this morning. The gusts are in the 20's definitely blowing the smoke elsewhere. It's 70f degrees now and 78 later. Yesterday we had maybe 15 minutes of rain in the morning and none of the predicted storms showed up last night. We are very dry!

The trip out to the party tent at 8:30 last night went as expected by me! Mosquitoes up the gazoo! They were thick. It's what I tried to explain to a lady with a PhD and another with a MBA. You cannot  build 500' from a yes absolutely beautiful wetlands and not find mosquitoes. Wetlands is a government definition of a fricking swamp and swamps mean insects. We will go out again tonight.

We were supposed to go to a Mets/Brewer game tonight in Milwaukee. Terry called yesterday to ask if we could switch to another game because of the smoke haze. The Brewer ticket people were wonderful in helping her out. So instead we will sit by a swamp tonight.

Rick are those trees Aspens?

Morning all,

Missed checking in yesterday. I had three unscheduled doctor's app.  Blood work, EKG, stress test to make sure I was able to have the eye surgery next Monday. I told them I did all three of those five weeks ago. Nope we want it done again. So, that was that.

No bench time yesterday and possibly none today. We have bowling practice today. I told Pam I didn't need the practice, not because I'm that good, but it will be the last time I can bowl until after the eye surgery. Dr. says 2-3 months with no heavy lifting, eye staining, or long term leaning over. 

I guess I'll need to find someone to edge and cut the grass for a few months.

Weather in South Jersey cloudy/windy/76.  Later 82 and rain.
Maybe with the rain I can finally sit at the bench for a few hours today.
I see nothing on the to do list!!!

Another rain day in the valley.

So far kale, lettuce, and red/yellow cherry tomato's Rick. Corn and potato's are doing good compared to last years wash-out. Gena is already canning again. Peppers are slowly blooming.

USPS has raised shipping prices again. Guess who paying.....

Yes, up early for another Dr. appointment.

Breakfast this morning is Country Fried Steak, hash browns, southern style grits and fluffy biscuits. If grits aren't you style, then help your self to some nice hot sausage gravy for the steak. Drinks on the end with fruit bowls for those cutting back.

Jerry, eye surgery. I have a macular hole in my right eye which requires surgery to repair.  Recovery will be about 45-60 days so after this coming Sunday, I'll be off the forum for that period of time. Unless of course, I can see and type with one eye open.

Curt, yup, trains originate in Colorado and it's a 6 hour trip to New Mexico.

How's everyone else.

Gym, Costco and lots of driving were yesterdays activities.
I have a little more than an hours drive to get to the trailhead for Thursday's hike.
Meeting a friend there and we'll do the hike together.
Not sure if Star will go on this hike because it will be an extremely difficult one.
Probably won't be any cell service at the trailhead so there's a good chance I won't be here tomorrow.

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Tom. After all that I won't eat until supper. Good luck with your appointment today. It seems like you're at step 1 of 1000 to me.

Actually had a decent night's sleep and feel rested this morning. Yesterday I kind of fell through the rabbit hole at the workbench and went beyond the instructions which took up a lot of time. In my next update I'll explain.

Today after floors, yes it's Wednesday again, I hope to attach the loading dock roof.

That's it for me.

Good morning crew. It's a chilly 55f degrees climbing to the high 70's. It's cloudless outside but even better it's day 2 of no smoke from Canada or Minnesota. AQI was 21 a few minutes ago.

Yesterday was good. I was at the bench for just under 3 hours prepping to make more trees. The rhythm was back and I was able to cut the wire for 36 birch trees in under 2 hours. Used up everything I had. I only needed 25 plus 10% but since I had so little wire left I kept going. My Amazon order for the next 150 trees was delayed from yesterday to tomorrow. The savings was almost 40% over a combination of Michael's and the LHS. Plus the free shipping saved maybe 12 miles round trip of gas, so at $3.79 per gallon free shipping saved me $1.00 (car gets 35 to 40 miles per gallon) and a semi-impulse buy at the LHS. So I'll say free shipping saved me at least $60.00

We had homemade pizza fries for dinner and then went to the granddaughter's Miracle League Baseball game at 7:30. That was fun. Got home at 9:20 and decided to do some work at the bench. It's nice again not to be 3 miles away from the bench. At midnight Terry came over to see if I fell to sleep or worst at the bench. I was forming the wire armatures into trunks and branches. Since did not set an alarm I lost track of the time.

Thanks Rick on the Aspens. After I finish these birch trees I have 42 Trembling Aspens to create. Enjoy the hike. I will look up to see what a thermacell is

Tom best to you on the eye surgery. It is amazing what they can do with the eyes now a days. Follow the doctors instructions as that seems to work best for me

Rick nice photo and that sounds like a serious hike; be safe. We were spared any tornado activity since it was all south of us; hopefully there wasn't too much damage for those folks.

Curt good to hear you slept well; at our ages that's a plus. Have fun with the kit.

Tom O is great anytime you can save $$ especially when it comes to modeling. Sound like you're keeping yourself busy.

Philip I'm a big fan of cooler weather; maybe 70's to 80's is perfect for me.

What's the rest of you up to?

It's a cloudy and cool 64 with a high of 68 and maybe some more much needed rain. I was up at 5:30 am and out of the house @ 6:30 to go get Vampired. The coffee had to wait until 7ish but really hit the spot. Ordered some scenery material yesterday which included some trees from Woodland Scenics since my trees usually suck. I'll putz around with some other diorama related things until the order arrives.

It's hazy again today and hot.  Afternoon thunderstorms are forecast.  I hope they hold off until I pick my car up from service.  Today I plan to do the final assembly of the Model T passenger truck. After that, who knows?

Weather in South Jersey is M. sunny or P. sunny depends on the time you look outside.
But it's supposed to be 88 later in the day.
Sorry to say no shingles again yesterday.
Will try again today it's bound to happen one of these days.
