59 at Grand Lake, cloudy and a high of 75 later.

Coffee, sodas and OJ are ready.
Basic two eggs the way you like them, crispy bacon and/or sausage patties and home fries for breakfast today.

Karl, thanks for the memories of the Sunday breakfast van.

TomO, glad you're have fun and relaxing doing the trees.

Karl, you're right, if I had one complaint about the pizza, it's I could do with less of the crust.

Jerry, hope you had a good time with the grandson.

Philip, we all make mistakes.

Ron, interesting that there's been five different winners in last five weeks.

Mike, wiring is my least favorite.

Larry, it is a good looking kit and the price does look high.
But the way I've always looked at it is divide the cost of the kit by the number of hours spent building it.
The fun per hour rate isn't so bad.

Yes, I know, I'm up very early.
Was able to stay here at the trailhead even though there are signs saying a permit is needed for that.
I'll start my hike after I have a little breakfast.
Star has to stay in the van because of NP rules.

Starting another lap around the sun today.

When I hiked the Decalibron Trail I saw 30-40 elk near the start.
This is a crappy picture, because they were very far away, but I count 14 in this picture.



This was near the end of the hike looking back towards the peaks I climbed.
That steep incline on the left is the climb up Democrat.

Rick thanks for the coffee and breakfast. That's a lot of Elk in one place. Have a safe hike. I've never looked at the price of a SW kit like that; makes sense but still a big hit to the wallet.      Also "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!"

It's a sunny 63 with a high of 83. Taking Ellie to get vampired a little later this morning; should be fun...she's not a morning person. Not sure about the rest of the day so we'll play it by ear.

Good morning, all. Another sunny & cool day on the NH seacoast, overnight low was 50F, high forecast as 79F.  Best of luck with the medics, Tom.

Rick, we rode about 19 miles yesterday. Mechanically no issues, and my wife's first long trip on her E-bike was much easier than doing the 300 foot elevation change standing on her pedals.  I learned that swinging track tools strengthens different parts of my shoulders and arms than long bike rides,  2/3 of trip was on former B&M Eastern Division roadbed, with a total elevation change of maybe 70 feet and only 6 road crossings.  Yankee Homecoming drew a lot of people to Newburyport's downtown area, but we had to leave just as the first band was starting. Teenagers by appearance, the lady lead singer playing bass, the other guitarist announcing he'd been asked to play Saturday and had been practicing the songs all morning. I screamed "GO FOR IT"!

Today back to the eternal Double Slip project at Seashore. But the end is drawing closer...

Good morning from Wisconsin! No need to swim this morning. At 94% humidity I can swim on my deck chair! 79f degrees feels like 87 and is heading to 93 with a heat index over 100. Yikes! The WeatherChannel app says the wind is at 7mph but the leaves on the trees are not blowing

The pool temperature yesterday at 5pm was 91 and too warm for me as I felt like I was swimming in bathtub water. I left the cover off over night.

The granddog is out running his invisible fenced 2 acres and I tested the boundaries yesterday with him. He definitely knows when to stop.

I parked our car in the kid's garage last night and I drove home one of the ATV's. Glad I did as there are a few driveway guys here staking everything out around 6:10. Watching the big equipment work has always been a thrill and even at 73 years old I'm looking forward to it.

We Are going to the movie Odyssey on Tuesday. Almost 3 hours of film and 25 minutes of new movie trailers and ads per our ticket. I found a Wisconsin based IMAX theater for this movie. Turns out our local AMC is 3 miles away has IMAX. I read an online article about the movie being filmed in 70mm and how few theaters are remaining that use 70mm but we have one close by. I don't quite understand as theaters are digital not film on reels any longer? Terry waited too long last week to buy our tickets and except for the 10am showing the only tickets available were singles and the front 3-4 rows. We passed

I got the Thermacells to use as mosquito repellant. The instructions say in 4mph breezes the thermacells are not effective as mosquitos have difficulty flying in breezes. Since the winds were at 10 plus there was no testing yesterday. Maybe this evening.

While the granddog runs and does his business I have been sitting under the trees. I mentioned in a text Saturday to the daughter they need a picnic area out here. I was directed about 300' to the east from where I had a couple chairs set up. A patio blocked sitting area totally covered by leaves and tree debris. It's too hot to clean it up right but walked up to get a yard blower and blow off the area. Better yet the Internet service is better in this spot. As soon as I fired up the blower back pack granddog Crosby took off to get away from me. He's a good one! Loves to chase a ball and will retrieve a soccer ball by dribbling using his legs and face(nose/snout) back to me. He tires of the soccer ball after a couple times but the rubber ball he'll retrieve anytime I throw it

Current weather is 20c (68f) and partly cloudy.  Had a great walk with Gracie yesterday morning and ended up going on a much longer walk than originally planned.  Watched the F1 race and worked on the turntable.  Seeing as the work week is starting construction will slow down during the week.

Some huge storms brewing today.....106 is the high....

We harvested about 80 ears of corn and 16 pounds of tomato's yesterday and Saturday. The corn is OK but not spectacular in size. Good and sweet tho. She is going to can the tomato's and the corn is already in the freezer.

Clouds and the hint that it might have sprinkled a bit, the RADAR map on my weather app shows we were about two pencil line widths East of a decent bit of H₂O that fell just off behind the woods.  Forecast gives us a fair chance of some, depending on location 0.1" to 3" thru the day, then another week before any more.  So far 0.10" the last 3 weeks, if that.  Sho enuf be DRY the lawn makes snap, crackle pop noises as you walk on it.

Rx to fetch then little else on the agenda.  Tie up the diesel if I can work it in, praying for rain.
