UPDATE -  2014 PSR Convention / San Diego - Our division took first, second and third in the structures category. Most importantly ( to me) "Chester Station" took  First Place.
Best in Show was won by Gary Butts for a magnificant scratch built steam engine model. I gave two "hands on" clinics, back to back. Boy did that take a lot out of me. I was pooped after that. Saw several beautiful layouts. Glad to be home. The recent storm made quite a mess in the Phoenix area, but everything at home was fine. Good to be back and to work on the layout. Have a great day!!!

Jeff,

Thank you for your kind words. The storm really made a mess in certain parts of the city. All we had to do was clean up some leaves and wash down the walkways. More time for trains!!!

Hi Frank

I spent the afternoon moving rocks out in the yard and for some reason it made me think of you ;D .  I haven't forgot about your shopping list for our tree project.  I'm in the process of putting together a resupply order and will send you an email with what I'm buying.

Chris,

Thank you for your kind words. Glad you stopped by. I am now working on the last of the buildings located in Chester. There will be a small complex of SRMW O.V. Hooker & Son and a station tower next to the station. I hope to have these done in the next month or so. I'll post a couple of pictures soon. Once all the structures are complete, then I need to finish the main street, install a three way traffic light and then lots and lots of trees. Thanks again for stopping by.

My wife and I recently returned from a trip to Portugal. While no train events were on the Viking itinerary, I was pleasantly surprised one day when the guide mentioned that we would be visiting the train station in Porto. Well I'll be damned, it was my lucky day. They took us there to show us the historical tiles that adorned the inside of the station. Indeed they were very nice and well taken care of. Since we were there for a bit of time, I walked into the platform area and took a look around and a couple of photos. At the end of the station was a tunnel portal which served as the entry into the station.

Well, I have an area on my layout that could use this idea, so once aboard the ship, I got out my sketch pad and played around with some ideas. Upon our return, one of the first things was to look and see the feasibility of this idea. Well, as you will see in the accompanying photos. I am in the removal process of this change. I'll post progress photos of the changes as I rebuild this area.

Thanks Greg,

Yes, that's what I thought. The track rearrangement is the easy part. The contours and buildings will be the challenge, but you know me, I love a challenge. Completed will be a bigger challenge. more pics soon.
