Howdy Tom,

The steam pipes look fantastic and fragile. The protective addition is a good idea.  My experience at the Texas Western was damage by rug rats, handbags, and careless people who destroyed anything like that on the aisle.

Have fun,

Philip,

Yes, it does. However, in this case it is the carelessness of a visitor. I still need to add the plexi-glass to this section.

        Hey handsome (BB) ;D
Beautiful work brother, it's always a pleasure to stop by and visit the latest layout pics here.  I just want to shrink down and rail fan through the layout.

Brother Thommy,

James,

Very nice work on the old style crossbucks. I never thought of making them out of brass stock.

These are just JL Innovation.

Mike, Howdy,

Thanks very much. Yes, they are fragile and I need to get off my rear and add the protection.

Many many years ago, on this forum, I started a thread on painting brass caboose/cabeese. I guess that thread is long gone. I'm adding a follow up here as to not start a new thread that would be incomplete.

I did find a few photos of part of the thread.

There was another one I never finished along with two others I needed to work on.

These have been on the loco work bench for the past 6+ years. The time is long overdo to get them into revenue service.

I originally painted an FEC side door caboose for the Sierra Railroad. We used this caboose with the Sierra 2-6-6-2 brass loco. That loco was repainted many years ago for the A&S RR. So, this caboose will be painted for the A&S RR as well.

When the decals were ordered from Champ Decal Co., they sent the "Sierra" in bold and the "Railroad" on normal un-bold font.

I don't plan on repainting the entire caboose. I will only paint the letter board. I used painters tape to cover the roof edge and the caboose sides.

I used Floquil Signal Red to paint the caboose. The Floquil Caboose Red was more of a pink color and the signal red was a true red color.

Here are the other two that need attention.

Notice the caboose on the bottom has some black over spray from the roof. I'll tape the sides and repaint the signal red over the entire side, on both sides.

The holes in the sides are for the installation of Lighted Adlake Marker Lights by Tomar Industries. I'll also be covering how those marker lights are installed and wired.

Done for today.

Tom, those are some good looking cabeese.
I'll follow along as you make them even better.

Hello Tom, I have a weak spot in my heart for cabooses and am really enjoying your thread on them. They look great. It was a sad day for railroading when they went away.

Tom, somehow I missed this. I know when you're done the cabeese will look outstanding.
