Hey Tom:

That is really cool. Love the palm trees.

Karl

Karl,

Thank you, much appreciate you stopping by. The palm trees make it very Southern. Glad you approve.

Splendid , your scenery , your structures , how they blend in, just splendid.

Jan,

A very nice compliment, thank you. Good to see you as well. I'm pleased you like the progress.

Great post, Tom.

I like the painters tape trick for leaving the outline of structures when adding scenery.  I take it holes are drilled through the baseboard for the LED wiring?  Looking most splendid.

Cheers, Mark.

Mark, Cheers,

Thank you for the support on the scenery. The painters tape is a nice little trick to speed the process and not glue the structures in place. Of course, not that I've ever done that either.  :-X

Yes, holes for the LED wires will be drilled in the middle of the pink foam and plywood. Again, thank you.

Mancuso's Pizza...another great honor for a largely absent SBG member. Thank you. The fact that Jim built it adds another degree of coolness.

The whole area looks great!

John

John,

Jim was a great friend for 45+ years and I miss him and his inability to tell a short story. He loved the SBG guys and often lamented that he wished he could get over more often. Time has change to group over the years but we can still get together. Jim had our names on many of his structures and lucky you, this was the only one we could save. Oh, and Bob's Garage. Both are FOS kits.

Thank you for the compliment on the area.

Greg,

Thank you, much appreciated. Yep, Tahope will soon be on the map. A slice and Diet Pepsi works for me.

Doug,

Thanks so much. It sure is nice to have several built structures on hand to move and switch around until the right combination is found.

More than 40+ years ago I built the FSM Freight House. And, over the years of moving it from place to place including several years in storage, it got damaged and the pieces broken off the bracing are now lost to history.

I contracted a local fellow in Tahope to make the repairs. He didn't give me a good deal but I see he has to pay for his new truck.

While the repairs were being made, I upgraded the roof weathering. I added pitch around the chimney. I also re-weathered the metal roofing over the open platform.

More in a few.

I'll add LED lighting in the future to this one also.

I just got caught up on your recent progress. It looks great - the location and repairs to the old freight house really look nice. It's great to see you getting back up to steam on the layout. ;)
