Good morning from Wisconsin.

The weather guessers may have scored a direct hit yesterday. They said 4-6" between 3pm and 7 last night. My driveway got 5+ so in my book they got one! Today the WeatherChannel app is saying maybe another 1" before noon and 2" by midnight. It is a balmy +20f degrees feeling like +16 heading to 30! I am surprised by my snow clearing service, they have not been here yet and it's 7:06am CST.

THE MadCity train show is today and will continue tomorrow. I'm torn if I should go or not. I really don't need anything. I don't mind the $15 ticket to get in but I do dislike the parking fees. The last few years there have been IMOO no good deals. The layouts and I love looking at layouts have been here before. I do have though at least 8 commission clients plus 1 club there that I have done quite a bit of weathering for. Like I said I'm torn. The weather IMO is no factor as the roads should be cleared and 1-2" of snow is no problem driving in.

The grandson has a hockey game at 4:30 about 35 miles south. So that will be watched on a live streaming app. We will have the granddaughter this afternoon and early evening. I guess she told her mom Wednesday she's "done" with watching hockey! She said grandma will watch her!!! So she'll be here

Rick, the lead in was supposed to be the bottle of Rare Eagle 25. They seemed to have skipped it in in favor of talking about the Pappy's. $500,000 for a cask of anything is a touch much though!

Friday fish. The snow was predicted to be blowing sideways at dinner time so we ended up staying home. I had a steak on the indoor grill and Terry had salmon caught earlier Friday afternoon at the fish mongers! When we pretty much knew the weather would cause issues for dinner time I drove the 5 miles to the monger. Fresh salmon is always a treat. I also purchased 18 giant prawns and had 2 along with my steak. Tonight the 3 of us will have the giant prawns on the grill.

Enjoy your day

Good morning Rick, Mike, Curt, TomO and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Rick.  I'm thinking track laying will be slowed down due to the fact that I need to get ready for my trip to Florida.  I need to make a stand for my N scale modules as right now they are just sitting on the shelve.  Also need to make proper end plates.   Will be easier to do that here where I have tools.  Enjoy off roading today.

Mike, enjoy your day.

Curt, the triple looks great.

TomO, Giant Prawns?, your making me jealous ;D  Maybe it's a getting older thing but when I was younger I used to go out of my way to go to train shows, now not so much.  But I don't really need anything either.

Jerry, hope you made it to the bench yesterday.

It's currently -13c (9f) overcast with more of the white stuff to come this afternoon.  No modeling yesterday but I did take the time to go to Home Depot and get the wood required to make the stand for my N Scale modules that I will be taking to Florida with me.  Now that I have an SUV I'll be able to take the stand with me.  The plan is to have it all bolt together so that it can be broken down for transport.

Have a great day everyone.

Morning Gents,

I wrote my post this am and when I went to the next page it went bye-bye; strange.

Rick thanks for the coffee and breakfast. We received 12+ inches of white crap taking me 2'5 hours
to clear the driveway; the snowblower could just about handle the wet consistency. Have fun off roading.

Mike send some of that warmth up my way please.

Curt I wouldn't stress over making the roof looking exactly like Brett's; make it your own.

Tom O sounds like a nice dinner; indoor grill? nice. Hope you figure out the train show.

Ron hearing you're going to Florida; I'm jealous. At least the weather will be warmer. Is it a work related trip?

What's everyone else up to?

It's 20 with a high of 30 in New York; maybe more white crap late this afternoon; ugh make it stop. Last week our company canceled due to a sick wife so today we'll try it again. Finished the floor for the Tractor Shop; just need to add nail holes so maybe an update later today.

Have a great day!! Be well and stay safe.

Temp in the mid 20s in Michigan this morning, the ground has another 3" I'd guess of fresh stuff, started after dark and was over before sun up. :o  Might get the blower out later.  There is a guess of more stuff falling from the sky later, with another WATCH or WARNING out there for more schmutz, some chance of wetter than desired, ie: glazed like a donut.

I worked on some of the electronic goodies for the layout, throttle panels, getting LEDS to work.  I bought a couple off eBay and found several in the dcc box in the basement.  Over the years NCE changed the circuit boards on those so I'm not finding all of them wire up the same.  Track work and layout "terra-forming" my creep into my activities for today.

NASCAR on tap for tomorrow.  I'm not the fan I used to be, I try to catch the Daytona races and any others are a "game time" decision, surely not the compulsion they once were.

Rick, enjoying the photos and vicarious pleasures of tales of your adventures.  Careful with the off roading. :o

Morning all,

Late to breakfast Rick, hope there are a few items left. Well, when and if you get back this way, I'll have plenty of layout stuff to show.

This flat iron build is the gift that just keep giving. I'm nearing the end though, well hopefully in the next few weeks anyway.

I'm taking Pam out to dinner later. Gads, she wants to go here and there before dinner. I said, "Let's just go to dinner and then home." Well, guess who won that one?

Have a safe and happy day everyone.

Larry,

Yes it is a work related trip.  I thought I was done with working on the road, but I guess I'm not.  Was told it was an 8 month work assignment, which means probably a year.

Morning brunch for me... Heavy rain today.

Version 1 million on the 3d printer. I think I may have some bad resin.

Anyhow have a great day.

Jerry

Morning everyone

Rick thanks for the coffee & breakfast.

Weather in South Jersey Jersey cloudy expecting two days of rain.
Temps should be in the 50's.

I did manage an hour at the bench yesterday and will try that again today.
I found one of my old I started but never finished it projects the usual for me.
It was broken in a few spots so I made new pieces for it.
Maybe I'll start a thread on that one before going forward with the Blacksmith Shop.

Everyone have a wonderful day!!  :)

Morning. Light snow here south of Rochester, NY.

Working on my third cup of coffee.

Been working on my HOn30 quarry portion of the layout to be. Added another section. Pictures sometime later.

Have a wonderful day.

These people were at Springfield: https://becketlandtrust.org/historic-quarry/quarry-photo-gallery/  They have some great old photos on their website.  I encouraged them to do an "Images of America" photo book on the quarry.

Good Morning,

All the usual morning beverages are set to go. Breakfast is cheesy scrambled eggs, home fry, and bacon or pan sausage with toast on the side.

What's your plans today?

It's a rainy 29 with a high of 38 then getting colder and snow through Wednesday. Later I'll have to get the ladder out and remove the ice from the roof edge and pull off the snow. Noticed early this am we have ice backup and it's leaking around one window. Not supposed to do that with a metal roof which overhangs the roof by 2 inches; ugh. Probably no bench time today.

Have a great day!!! Be well and stay safe.

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Larry. Good luck with the water seepage. Hopefully it will be a easy fix.

Started out the day with a walk at 69F and very breezy. Tomorrow morning it's supposed to be in the low 50's. Typical bouncing around for winter here.

Yesterday I finished the tipple...I thought. After looking closely at the photos I see the flashing (for lack of a better word) is crooked on 2 sides. >:(  So, first up is seeing if can be fixed without destroying things. After that I'll start on the headframe.

Before that though is chores. They never end. :( I may drink a second cup of coffee before starting. ;)

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning everyone.

Barstow weather: 43 now and partly sunny, with a high near 69 later.

Larry, thanks for the coffee and breakfast.
Careful on the ladder.
Before I go back to the previous page here I copy everything I've written and then go back.
Learned that the hard way the first time I did it.  :-\

Dave, some interesting photos at that link.

Bernd, have fun with the quarry and we'll all look for your pictures.

Jerry, very happy you found some bench time.

Philip, hope you have some good resin.

ACLTom, how was dinner?

Greg, did you have a fun day?

Karl, glad you're enjoying the photos and have fun watching NASCAR.

Ron, did you make the module stand?

TomO, Eagle Rare 25 sounds interesting but I'm sure the price is prohibitive.
My taste buds aren't good enough to make that kind of investment worth it.
Did you go to the show?

Curt, any more progress on the kit?

Mike, did you come up with a solution on the boxcar paint?

Hope everyone else out there is well.

Off roading went well on the Pipken Cindercone Trail until I reached a very steep and long uphill.
There were a couple of other steep climbs along the way but they were shorter in length.
This one looked intimidating.
So I stopped and walked up it which wasn't easy either.
I decided against it and turned around.
Now I can of regret it because I'm sure I could have done it in 4 low but then going back down it would have been another issue.

Here's two photos I took of that incline.
The first photo I'm at the tom and you can't see the trail because it drops off quickly.
The second photo is after I climbed down a bit to show the incline better.
You can tell how tall the climb is by how far down the van is.

Have a great day everyone.
