Howdy folks,

Thanks Rick, Curt, Philip, and Jerry for your comments.  Dave, good luck finding the tank cars.

Today I painted the frame and applied the decking.  I'll weather the deck before mounting the tank.  I think I'll add straps to hold the tank steady on the curves.  ;D

Just got word my white BCMC decals shipped.  I am looking forward to labeling the cars I've built.

Have fun,
mike

Howdy folks,

Jerry, Curt, Kyle, and Rick, thanks for following along.  Today I painted the truck parts and will assemble them tomorrow.  I did a bit of weathering on the tank and flat following photos of the prototypes. I started the straps that hold the tank down.

Mike...in all honesty this is the BEST looking old piece of sh*t tank and flat car combo I've seen in years.  It's absolutely cool beyond all my expectations.  I can't wait till it's all decaled, weathered, 'trucked & wheeled' and  'coupled up' to a consist rolling along..........'yep she's a gooder'...........

Good evening folks,

Karl, Rick, Philip, Curt, Kyle, TomACL, and Jerry, thank you for the encouragement.  I need it.

Unfortunately, Curt, the Guinness bottle label would not fit on the tank car...

Although I received the nice custom BCMC decals from Dave's Decals, I did not use them on the tank car.  I had an old set from the Texas Western Model Railroad Club and decided to use them in salute to the wonderful days I had there.  I'll try to post photos tomorrow.

This photo depicts how I made the hold-down straps for the tank car.  I scored a thin piece of styrene down the middle, then squeezed it around a bronze wire.  I modeled the technique after a prototype photo I saw.  Here is a photo with one end glued into the support.

Braves won!
