Good afternoon folks,

Larry, thanks for opening.  That sneaux looks nasty.  Hope you stay warm at the bench.

Dave, ice, yikes.  Sounds like a good day to stay inside and work on a boxcar.

Tom, it's funny, we just ordered six more storage bins for Christmas stuff.  Condolences for your sad losses.

Rick, good to hear you are better.  Beautiful photo.

Curt, thanks.  I just took a load of boxes to recycle yesterday.  Must be the season.

Ron, thanks.  The boxcars are looking great.  The roofing material is unique to me. Interesting.

Karl, I can't believe the photos of the snow drifts across Michigan.  Congrats on he 3D work.

Jim, welcome back from a fun-filled cruise.  You guys look great.

How goes the rest of the crew?

I'm back from the EGD and don't feel bad.  We stopped by one of my favorite restaurants for lunch, Cajun shrimp and grits.  Oh, so good.

I'll take it easy this afternoon and return to painting details tomorrow.

Have fun,
mike

Good Morning All,

This morning breakfast is Carte Blanche. Get whatever you want, it's all in the kitchen or pantry. Of course the coffee is hot and the OJ and soda are cold.

I got up at 5 am to go walking but saw the feel like temp is 35F and said NOPE! I'll do it later when it warms up a bit. Yesterday I spent 2 hours making boxes at the workbench and my mind was fried with a minor headache from wearing the optivisor for so long.

Today is floor day...yuck! I have stacks of details ready to go on the diorama. Tomorrow is helping MOH make schnitzel for the extended family dinner.

I hope everyone has a safe New Years Eve and a Happy New Year.

Good Morning,

Curt thanks for the coffee and breakfast. Have fun at the bench and try not to get a headache.

What's your plans for the day.

It's 24 with a high of 26 and it FINALLY stopped snowing; at least for now. Snow blowed the driveway 3 times yesterday and was cold and pooped when finished. The good news is my SUV is fixed and sitting in the driveway. Found a bad sensor in the fuel line and the heater blower motor had crap in it along with acorns; damn squirrels. Anyway that was a whole lot cheaper than the alternatives. More s*ow last night but not much accumulation so back at it again today. Bench time?????

Have a great day!!! Be well and stay warm.

Good morning folks,

Curt, thank you for opening, making coffee, and cooking grits. Schnitzel sounds like a worthy sous chef task.  Enjoy.

Larry, congrats on the car repair.  Sounds like a good deal. Good luck running out the sneaux plow...

What's on your agenda this New Year's Eve?

Sweetie and I are headed to the pet spa this morning.  She needs a clip, shampoo, and nail trim. Hopefully, I'll make it to the bench later.  I'm anxious to try out my Christmas gift of the Vallejo rust paint kit.

Have fun,
mike

Cajun shrimp and grits.  Oh, so good.

Sounds good, Mike.  Never been so lucky to have such treats.  Grits, oh yeah.  Cajon? no place to have that around here.  I might get the fixins for black eyed peas while I'm out.  Good luck charm.  Hmmm...never had schnitzel, either, that I can remember.   :D

Heading out early to go to the credit union, they intercepted a $499 attempted fraud on my debit card and called me around 6pm last evening :-\ .  They killed the card and I need to replace it.  The security person mentioned "catering" Must have spoiled someone's party...I have a couple of legit draws on that account I'll have to notify later.  The cell phone bill was drawn just a couple hours before the fraud attack.  :o

Worked on the layout and a couple little 3d projects yesterday then out for sandwiches.

No plans for today, we were invited to friends' but it's just too schmutzy for venturing out more snow and wind are forecast.  Same old group we meet for cards, all they do is gripe and bitch about folks from their church or brag up all the money they spend.  One couple should be going to FL soon.

Bench and layout are plans for today, might watch the Ann Arbor boy's choir's bowl game but won't be expecting too much.  Morbid curiosity after all the drama?  Probably...SPARTY is already in hoops mode.  Would like to see them but their games are scattered around so many different outlets that we only manage to see 1/2 of them if we're lucky.  They are quite decent, so far, this year.  The team from A2 are as well, i've heard.

Enough!  Enjoy the New Year all.  Thanks to all here that make life more enjoyable sharing your friend ship and gifted talents.

Wife insists on Hoppin' John on New Years Eve, I got my black-eyed peas and ham Monday.

The forum timed out a couple of times on me today, once when trying to change my password.  Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending of your opinion of me...) I was able to log back in and complete the action.

Good morning Curt, Larry, Mike, Karl, Dave and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Curt, it's been a long time since i have had Schnitzel, have fun at thew bench.

Larry, glad the car repair wasn't painful.

Mike, hope you make it to the bench to try out your Christmas Present.

Karl, enjoy your time at the bench/layout today.

Dave, if you couldn't get back on the forum, then no one can.

Currently -15c (5f) and overcast today.  Had a light dusting of the white stuff last night with no white stuff in the forecast today.  We went to dinner with friends last night and I also spent some more time on the boxcar build yesterday, will post an update later today.  Might take a break from the boxcar build today as I need a break from it, there is a lot of other stuff I can do.  Will be having a quiet night tonight, which is the way we like it.

Have a great day everyone.

Morning all,

Thanks for breakfast Curt. Pam fixed sweet rolls this morning but I'll have some nice fresh cold OJ.

Rick, nice winter snow photo.

Larry, good news on the SUV repair.

I took down the Christmas tree and lights this morning. It was a cold 38 here this morning. This was the first time in 35 years we got a real tree. I think I'll do it again next year. It sure smelled great while up. Anyway, this means all the Christmas stuff will come down today and not tomorrow. History does repeat itself!

Dave, I think you are a great moderator. Happy to have you back on line.

Hopefully, I'll get back to Doc Koontz this afternoon.

Have a safe and happy day.

Good morning from Wisconsin. High 30's for the high today. Monday morning except for snow piles from plowing most of our snow was gone. Just over 16" officially since Thanksgiving pretty much disappeared in 4 days of rain and 40 + degree days. Monday changed all that even though we missed the Armageddon snow event again. It went north of us but before the snow we got ice. The hockey game we missed on Sunday in Milwaukee we could have gotten to but not home that night. It was a good decision not to go as our drive home would have taken us through some of the larger snow falls in that 100 mile drive home.

We went to the movies last night. Packed! A very good movie, joyful, upbeat, depressing and very well acted. Kate Hudson was absolutely magnificent in Song Sung Blue.

The Synopsis: Based on a true story, two down-on-their-luck musicians (Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson) form a joyous Neil Diamond tribute band, proving it's never too late to find love and follow your dreams.

It's not really about Diamonds music though it essential to the movie. It's about the couple and you will need tissues or a clean handkerchief. If she's not nominated for an Oscar it should be a crime.

The last slot car race of 2025 happened yesterday. The slot car racing was fun. From 9 till 5 with 3 granddads there and 2 single moms it was a good time and kind of neat watching a single granddad and one of the moms gravitating towards each other as the day went on.

The next one is Monday 1/5/2026 the last day off for the school break. The LHS owner stayed for a couple hours after dropping his niece off. She was one of the 5 girls who raced and I tell you watching 12/13 year old females herding 12/13 year old boys around was enlightening. I remember back though, I was just as clueless about women at 12/13 like they are now and I still am. Good time though. The track was flawless and these kids can race.

I'll be at the bench today and a few 15 to 30 minute work sessions on the layout. I have a 10' section of track that needs work. That is my goal for today and if it needs ripping out I have the replacement tie strips and new rail, though I can re-use what's there

I am finding it easier staying off line which reducing my online time goal has been achieved. I'm not deliberately staying away from this forum but by looking how much I missed from my last posting I definitely am. Even my Facebook time has evolved into basically just my own Wisconsin Interstate page. It's a political, religious and financial free zone if you want to just check it out. Rick is a frequent visitor who can vouch for the page. My gaming online is now about 15 minutes which is a huge turn for me. This all makes for time at the bench and thankfully my 16 year old IPod still works. With almost 10,000 songs I can lose myself at the bench in my own little HO world and the songs keep playing

Happy New Year and be safe if you venture out tonight

Enjoy your day

Morning all you bell ringers! We are planning another quiet new years eve.

Happy New Year!

Rick

Good morning everyone.

52 now, cloudy and 66 later with a chance of rain this evening.

Curt, thanks for the coffee.
Have fun in the kitchen with the Mrs.

Philip, good morning.

TomO, yes, your FB is nonsense free as is mine.
Never understood why many avoid FB when it's so easy to find good, informative content that is politically free.
Easy enough to quickly scroll past if any such nonsense is encountered.

ACLTom, have fun at the bench.

Ron, I'll look for your update.

Dave, I don't understand the need to change passwords.
If someone wants to hack any account they can just as easily hack the new one.

Karl, it's such a PITA to have to replace a credit card.

Mike, have fun with the rust kit.

Larry, great news on the car.

How's everyone else?

I was up much earlier this morning but was able to roll over and fall back asleep for another 4 hours.
Felt good.
It will be a very quiet New Years Eve for me as well.
Nothing planned other than some family time.

This crew kept a close eye on Star as we walked past.
