Greetings from somewhere in the Caribbean;

We have been on a week cruise, now heading back to port and home. A lot of folks dressed up for Halloween yesterday, was fun to watch. I've spent my down time on the cruise working on my computer designing a rolling draw bridge for the layout. I've made some good progress and should be able to start 3D printing when we get home. It's been good to start catching up on some of the threads happening on the Forum, a lot going on, nice to see. Well off to lunch, hope everyone has a great day.

Good morning Crew, do you know what time it is? The time on the clocks went back 1 hour this morning. . For most of you lucky ones the clocks handle themselves for us others some do, some don't. In our household Terry used to love the sound of the tic-toc but as I write this I realize she can't hear that annoying noise because it's now background noise her hearing aids tune out! At least I don't have to do the wind up clocks we had.

Badger hockey was a bit different yesterday versus Minnesota on Friday night. 14 seconds into the game the Badgers scored and then a Gopher clocked the goal scorer sending her to concussion protocol. 2 minutes and 20 seconds later the Badgers scored again. It was a good game with one of the most unprepared analysts I have heard on any type of game. Badgers 7 Gophers 2. Why was I watching and not there? Terry went with the granddaughter and it was sold out and even with connections that we didn't push, we couldn't get a ticket. The sad thing, the stands were about 10% empty. It was fine and Harper loved it. "Poppa, Those are girls playing, all of them" was her comment when I asked her if she had fun at the game.

The son and girlfriend made it to Vegas from Austin 3 hours late. Ground hold per controller shortages he told me was the announcement the plane captain made. He didn't fly his own plane because the round trip tickets were only $120 each including all the fees. He said he can't pull the aircraft out of the hanger for that. The daughter and SIL from here were only 1 hour late. The niece and hubby from LA had their flight cancelled so drove! The government shutdown is cause for flight safety. It's why Terry and I were talked out of flying to Winnipeg on the 10/30 to watch the Black Hawks. They are staying at my brother's place. The son texted after their dinner around 11:30pm that who ever said the fall of Vegas was occurring needed to come and visit this weekend. As packed as he's ever see in the past 3 years

The grandson's final soccer game of the Fall season yesterday morning at 8:30 about 12 miles away normally but the detour added 6 miles was a 1-0 win and played in absolutely miserable 36f degrees with drizzle from start to end. I was a popsicle after! His hockey game in Milwaukee at 5 he went with his best buds family. He also overnighted there. She's the assistant AD for the Badgers who couldn't get an extra ticket for the Badger Women hockey. His team played well, 6-1. Me and 3 grand dads are invited to the grandson's house to race against our grandkids and his best friend whose gd/parents have passed. No Packer game this afternoon and their hockey game is at 10am. So yeah, we can race. His parents ok'd it and even were arranging food when one of the granddads said he will handle the food. He owns the local Culver's so our orders are in and will be delivered to the house.

I will not attend Trainfest today in downtown Milwaukee for the 2nd year in a row. I've hear negatives about it from those who went from this area yesterday. The NMRA has taken over running it but until I hear from trusted sources I won't say anymore. I will go to the Mad City show in February in Madison with most of the same layouts and sellers but minus the big name manufacturers.

Enjoy the day
TomO

Good Morning,

Looks like everyone's taking advantage of the extra hour in the form of sleep; I know I did. The morning beverages are ready along with a Continental Breakfast.

Tom O I know how you feel about some train shows. We had ours this weekend but I decided to skip this year.

Karl gorgeous tree but I think the "turd hauler" needs some love.

What's your plans for the day.

It's 30 with a high of only 52 in New York. The Adirondacks Mountains way up north had measurable s*ow yesterday and some flurries in the southern tear; they can keep it....way too early for that nonsense. Today should be the last time I have to grind up leaves for this season. Hope to get a couple of months BEFORE I have to deal with blowing out the driveway....we'll see. Also need to start enclosing the back porch; orders from the Boss. Probably no bench time today.

Have a great day!! Be well and stay warm.

So the basic start at our house is coffee in the living room with Gena. We are up early, unaware of Daylight Savings Time. This morning I'm strumming the guitar as usual and was playing Bob Seger "main street". My wife of almost 50 years looks at me and says, well long ago when you left me I was broke and I took a job at a strip bar for a week for money and there was a rather ugly stripper there and she asked me (almost in a threatening manner) why I don't get up there?

My wife says, because your the star!

OMG funny!

Have a good one!

Good morning TomO, Larry, Philip and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Larry, Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Larry, sounds like you have a full day of 1:1 chores ahead of you.

TomO, since covid I haven't been to many model railroad shows.

Philip[, that's a good one.

Another overcast day here with a temperature of 4c (39f).  Started painting the mountains on the backdrop yesterdays and got the base of the mountains done.  The plan is to continue working on them today.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning everyone.

Great Basin NP weather: 42 now and sunny and 71 later.

Larry, thanks for the coffee and breakfast and hope you get those 1:1's done today with issue.

Ron, have fun creating your mountains.

Philip, good story and photo of Gena.

TomO, congratulations on the grandsons win and hope you've thawed out.

Jim, continued safe travels and look forward to your bridge build.

Dave, I'm sure you'll come up with a good idea on building a boat for the layout.

Karl, nice color on the tree and the weathered wood on the hauler.

Mike, hope you're back in the pink and making good progress upstairs.

Curt, hope you made good progress on the kit yesterday.

ACLTom, hope your travels are going well.

How's the rest of the crew?

I did get a 1 on 1 guided tour at the Nevada Northern RR.
I videoed it but I had some issues while recording that I'm hoping I can correct in post processing.
Drove to Great Basin NP but my plans here might be a bust.
First, the visitors center is closed so I couldn't get a sticker to add to my collection.
Second, I wanted to do two hikes while here but the road to the trail head is closed.
Not sure how from the trail head is from the closure.
If it's not too far then I can still do the hikes.
Star and I will walk the closed road later this morning.

Mt. Storm King at Yosemite at sunset.

Have a great day everyone.

Yesterday I took a  nap. When I woke up I thought I sleep through the night. I couldn't figure out why the sun wasn't up at 730 am ( because it was still 730 pm)

I even thought that the cable TV was screwed up because all the programming was 12 hours behind.

Doh!

Good Morning All,

TomO thanks for opening and Larry for breakfast.

Started out the day with a walk at 56F and no humidity (feel like). Yesterday I spent almost 4 hours outside on the driveway and other things that needed cleaned. Needless to say I vegged the rest of the day.

Today I've completed my chores and am enjoying a glass of OJ before heading to the workbench.

TomO I have only been to one hockey game. The Lightning were playing the Redwings at home. A group from work went. One was a Redwing fanatic. After the game we perused Ybor City (night life area).

Larry good luck with the chores today.

Tom I hope you guys made it home safely yesterday.

Rick awesome photo. Good luck with the video and hikes.

I hope everyone has a good day.

TomO we still have clocks to fix here to!!

Philip that was funny.

Ron I saw your painting very nice so far.
I guess you paid attention to Chris when he gave classes.

Great picture Rick.
I hope you can get your hike in and get a sticker later in the day!

Dave good thing you woke up early!!  ;D

Weather in South Jersey is sunny/51.
Four of the grandkids are coming down to see us today.
It will be a early dinner at the local Pub.
No bench time today but that's okay.
It was great game last night to end the World Series!!

Everyone have a great day!!  :)

Morning all,

We made it up and back to Kershaw, SC. They should rename it Deliverance, SC. And, I'm not kidding!

My two sisters got into a verbal jousting and the younger one left. I told Pam it would happen but did so much sooner than I expected. I told my sister, who lives in Kershaw, I was never coming back. We didn't argue but I don't plan on driving 500 miles just to listen to family crap between sisters.

I did learn more of the family history on my grandfather's side that was never shared. I found some old folders that my grandmother and father kept. As kids, we were told my grandfather had no history of family. Apparently that was not truthful.
Now I need to read all the information and add this to the chapter on family history.

I did get a few good railroad photos. The switcher was on a siding next to an old abandoned soybean plant.

I'm going to chill the rest of the day.

Good morning, all.  The NH seacoast started out in the 30s with frost on the grass but NWS forecasts a high of 53.  This morning has been renewing memberships, making donations, reading news etc.  This afternoon we're going to a baby shower.

I did get in some layout time yesterday evening,  I've got the foundation of my next structure located.  Still have to dig into the electrical issue with my Azatrax Spring Switch controller and clean everything up before Tour de Chooch, but it's more than I did last month.

Good Morning All,

Today for breakfast is coffee, cereal, bagels, yogurt, apple cider donuts, OJ, and soda.

Currently washing my clothes and have some  other chores today. Our big local news is our other car (Rouge) wouldn't start yesterday :-X. It's making a metal clicking sound on attempted startup. It ran fine the day before. I see $$$ flying away. :-*

Yesterday after chores I worked on the kit for several hours and colored the brick tempering oven.

Today after dropping off the car and chores I'll work on the kit some more. The only other things scheduled this week are a haircut on Friday and the annual HOA meeting Saturday, but I can probably get out of it if Tom is having visitors. Please Tom. ;)

Tom at least you got some great RR shots. ::)

I hope everyone has a good day.
