Good morning everyone.

55 now in Georgetown, sun and clouds with a high of 78 later.

Larry, thanks for the coffee and breakfast.
Enjoy the grocery shopping.

James, thanks for the black raspberries and hope the switch work goes well.

ACLTom, good luck at the doctors.
With the stitches out I hope you will be able to relax better.

Ron, I'm very happy that all went well with Gracie's surgery and that she was able to go home.

TomO, hope Terry didn't suffer because of the poor air quality.

Karl, thanks for the calm photo and enjoy the mild weather.

Curt, good luck to your grandson on his interview and good news on culling the herd at home.

Jerry, hope it's cooler at the bench today.

Philip, nice update on the dormers on FB.

Dave, I thought you could only call it bourbon if it was made in Kentucky.

Mike, hope there was time for upstairs after all the 1:1's were done.

How's everyone else?

I spent the Fourth at the Mount Bierstadt Trailhead.
Didn't see or hear a single firework which Star appreciated.
Yesterday Star and I hiked to the top of Bierstadt.
It's a steep hike to the top and the smoke in the air from the ongoing fires here in Colorado didn't help the breathing.
The little voice in my head kept saying turn around, you don't have it today and won't make it.
But I ignored it and we did make the summit.
Hike totals: 7.7 miles 2,523' of climbing.
Elevation at the top 14,065'.
Second time I've climbed this 14er.
Star was a hit with everyone at the top.
They were amazed how well she climbed the boulder to reach the top.
Some wanted to take pictures with her.
Afterward drove into town and had an Elk Bratwurst and a tasty stout as a reward.
Relaxed the rest of the night.
More relaxing today.

This is the view at the Bierstadt Trailhead.
Bierstadt is the peak on the right.

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Larry. Enjoy your day.

Started out the day with a walk that really was a slog at the end. Temp 77F and humid. Today will be spent doing chores and errands. Those also include for Dad. Today is oldest grandson's birthday. He is 21 yo. Hard for me to imagine. He seems to be doing well and just recently got a promotion at work.

Tomorrow I think I need to bite the bullet and trim the front hedge. :-\

Ron I hope Gracie is home where she belongs.

Tom I hope it goes well today and I'm thinking of you.

James it sounds like you're almost done repairing the slip switch.

Rick I hope Star was able to eat something tasty also!

I hope everyone has a good day.

God Speed Tom. See you soon!

Have a great day!

Well, Tom, good luck with the doctor.  Rick, congrats on making -any- 14-footer.   Ron, how's Gracie doing today?

This will be a busy week for me.  Tomorrow I have a lunch meeting with people from my university, to see if they'll do what I need them to do before I'll make a significant donation.  (This is all about transforming a university activity from an 'old boy's club' to something that is completely documented to the alumni, where any alumnus/a can apply to participate.)  I think this will be successful, but I'm not in any mood to compromise.  Thursday DirecTV is coming to see if they can fix the satellite dish.  They get -1 chance- at this, I'm disgusted with their on-line/app failures. Then Friday morning I have a "Visit with the Vampire" and then lunch with my former office-mate and fellow train buff.    In between, I'll do more forestation on the layout.

Good morning,

Larry, thanks for opening and breakfast. Good luck shopping.

James, good luck with the double slip switch.

TomACL, good luck at the dermatologist's office.

Rick, sounds like a great hike with the Star climber.

Curt, those kids do grow up, sadly.  Good luck with the chores.

Philip, wishing you a fun day.

How is the rest of the crew?

It's a bright morning and cooler today.  I'm off to have annual emission inspections done on the cars. Maybe make it upstairs afterward.  This week is full of medical appointments for MOH and me. Her cataract surgery, for me, EDG, and colonoscopy.

Have fun,
mike

8) Sun and upper 60s.

Built a fire on the beach and watched the fireworks across the bay from town, July 5?, no reason I could find. Decent 20 minutes of rapid fire light show. Got chilled as it was 63 when we got back to the bunker.

1:1 today at a lazy pace.  ;)

Ron, good news on your Gracie. Tom, best of luck with the "dermo-doc"

Enjoy the day, might treat me to some grits.  ;D

elwoodblues

Good morning everyone.

Thank for the coffee and breakfast Larry.

Tom, hope the visit to the derm-doc goes well.

Current temperature is 21c (70f) and sunny.  Thanks for the well wished everyone about Gracie.  She is now at home and recovering.  She is supposed to take it easy for the next couple of weeks with no exercising or stair climbing.  :o   She is a very active dog, so this should be interesting.  She an 11-1/2 your old who thinks she is still a puppy.

I did manage to watch the F1 race last night, which did have some excitement.  I also managed to add the brake wheels to the boxcars, so I can officially call this project complete.  I'll post a final update tonight.

Have a great day everyone.

Karl don't overdo the 1:1 today.

Everyone have a great day!!  :)

Rick

Good morning everyone.

59 in Evergreen, sun in the AM and clouds in the PM with a very slight chance of rain late in the afternoon.
The high will be 81.

Coffee, sodas and OJ are ready.
I looked up a traditional Colorado breakfast and this came up: smothered breakfast burrito—eggs, potatoes, cheese, and meats like chorizo or bacon, blanketed in spicy, local pork or vegetarian green chile.

Jerry, every day should be a good day to make a little progress at the bench.  ;D

Ron, box cars look excellent.
How's Gracie doing?

Karl, hope there's more chill'en today.

Mike, hope the cars passed emissions and hope you and your wife do well with all those medical procedures.

Dave, good luck with the donation and DirectTV.

Philip, how's the garden growing?

Curt, Happy Birthday to your grandson.
Hedges trimmed?

ACLTom, how'd it go at the dermatologist?

How's everyone else?

Easy day yesterday.
More easy today.
Costco to pick-up a very few things and then get to a trailhead for another hike tomorrow.

On the way up Mount Bierstadt I saw a mountain goat.
At one point he joined us on the trail right in front of us.

Star behave herself and didn't go after the goat.

A short video of the goat: https://youtube.com/shorts/vxKG217Gcfg

This is us at the top of the mountain and this gives a good idea of the rocks you have to climb to get to the top.

Have a great day everyone.

Larry C

Good Morning,

Rick thanks for the coffee and breakfast this morning. Maybe Star thought the goat was just another big dog. That must have been quite the hike getting to the top; congrats.

What's your plans?

It's a sunny 67 with a high of 80. Taking Ellie to the dentist this afternoon for a tooth extraction; this should be the end of the dental work for awhile at least. Not sure about the rest of the day though.

Have a great day!! Be well and stay safe.

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Rick. Great photos today. You look like you two are on the top of the world. It's amazing Star was able to climb that.

Started off here at 75 and very damp from last night's rain. I have already trimmed the hedge and got cleaned up. After inside chores I hope to make it to the workbench for a bit.

Youngest grandson will be 19 on Thursday. He's the one living with us. Both grandson's were born days apart in July but 2 years apart.

Larry I hope Ellie has an easy extraction. Dentist...UGH.

I hope everyone has a good day.

I remember the mountain goat that posed patiently for photos at the top of "Going-to-the-Sun Highway" in Glacier National Park.  I wondered if I had to pay a modeling fee...  They're definitely very cool and very chill.

Today, after my meeting with the university reps, I'll go visit an Actual Hobby Shop, that's just a couple miles away from the restaurant.  Not sure if I'll buy anything, but it'll be fun to look around.

Good morning,

Nice shots Rick. The garden is growing like weeds. Garden is fine.

Nice day here in the North.

Quite a hike, Rick.

Enjoy, all.

Good morning Everyone.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Rick, That climb must have been fun for Star with all those big rocks.

Current weather is 23c (73f) and partly cloudy, it's going to be another great day weather wise.  Gracie is doing well, she is not supposed to be going up or down stairs but her attitude is "that's not going to happen", as long as she takes it easy, it shouldn't be a problem.  No modeling last night as the patient wanted a lot of attention so we gave it to her.  I did manage to post the final update on my boxcar thread.

Have a great day everyone.
